Got sent an End Walker figure for mods. Here's my view on it and the mods I made.
There are some things they got right on this figure and some not so much.
The Good: The backpack is a stand out. It has everything but the oakley label and
of course the leather patchwork, some minor add on's and weathering.
The shotgun is good. Though they went just a tad over the top on the weathering.
They also only used black tape, when the film versions has both silver and black tape.
The pants and the long sleeve shirt are good solid versions without the fraying and weathering.
The I-pod looks great, though Eli had duel earbuds.
Though they look good, I can live without the skull cap and military scarf.
The Fair: Though the jacket looks very close, it is not as well made and the pants and shirt.
The jacket wasn't even sewed in spots, so I had to go and tack the pockets and
other areas to make it function. It's also very thin material and has out of scale tie ropes.
I mean...really out of scale..
The machete looks good but is a thin plastic that could break easily, the sheath is not leather
like is was stated in the initial release notes. The sheath belt buckle is a poor design.
The belt goes through the buckle, pin in hole and nothing to hold the excess in place and
it doesn't tuck underneath either. So you have to tack it.
The boots are a thin pleather. I was almost affraid to
weather for my friend. So I went lightly.
The under t-shirt, has a large/thick collar and looks a little silly when you try to pull it
through to give it the look in the film.
The underwhelming: The sculpt...well, not many good things to say about it. It is what it is.
The body is also subpar, the thigh inplants were to big to stay on and you can tell it's
a very brittle plastic. At least the leg joints are tight enough to keep it standing, so
one good point there.
Overall: for sure some parts worth picking up. I also think if you're looking for
a budget version of Eli, then this is as good as you're going to get. MC has a good rep with
clothes and tailoring in general. They only missed the mark a little here. But there are
a lot of mods needed to make this film accurate(sculpt aside). It almost comical how
big the ropes are in the first 3 pictures..try not to look.
Here's some pictures with some mods to the backpack, jacket, overall outfit.
Hope you liked it. First thing of course I suggest if you get this figure; find Daniel Choe's
Eli head.
