I use Alumilite High Strength 2;I've had very good results with it.All molds are poured and cleared(including Leia's head). I hope to try them out this weekend, barring un-forseen complications(like family obligations, which seem to be looming). If they work out...the mayhem can commence...PS

Update!The castings are all good...

These are the second and third shots(the set I'm using)...

And the legs begin to take form...

The completed feet, with the pivot pins attached;the movement is good

All together now!The ankles actually have more sideways movement than I expected, but not as much forward tip as I'd hoped.Rearward is good, though, so I'm not complaining. Those who are interested in castings, end a PM and we can get things rolling. Tonight I start painting...P

This week...paint...

This is the base coat, a custom mix of rust, olive green and depot buff, a mustard yellow(I use Floquil railroad colors). It's been curing about a week. Next, I'll make a lighter version of the base color(more yellow) and dry-brush to bring up the texture a bit, then an even lighter mix for the throat and palms. Finally, the claws will get a grey finish.I'm liking what I'm getting, which is meant to reflect the character's appearance on film. Just as well, as no 2 of my reference pieces is painted the same...PS

Why do you think he has the cankles? Story goes: Dr. E offers to do some free surgery for his pal in lieu of payment for a job that went south. Problem is, he gets smashed on some bad home-brewed juri-juice he boiled up in a rustpot old assassin-droid distillery and forgets to sterilize his equipment first. Then, massive infection sets in post-op and hits old Bossk in the ticker, and the resultant CHF leads to edema in the legs and presto! Cankles. Moral of the story: never let your alcoholic best bud perform free surgery on you until you've seen his medical license FIRST! :lecture

The dry brushing went well;really brought up the textures. Now all that's left is dry pigments and a sealer coat.'Course, I sill have a few costume issues to resolve(like his cuffs). Why do I do this to myself?(oh yeah, for the fun)...PS

Better you than me:lol

It looks great so far. Take your time....the sooner you finish, the sooner the update pics end.

Alternate explanations for the Cankles...
1) he's a reptile, and lizards tend that way...
2) that's how the original costume is designed...
Guess you're a bit excited,Barry?Hope that continues when you have the stuff in hand...PS

Keeping company with the Princess. The combination of dry brushing, dry pigments and contrasting finishes always works for me.Just a few more costume details(including the dreaded cuffs) and this puppy's ready for the shelf...PS

Wow, waxy, Bossk's really come a long way since I last saw him.

He's looking great! It's nice to see him almost finished.

Home-built aircraft? It must take forever to build a plane by yourself!

I got sidetracked from most of my 1/6 projects months ago, and so now most of them are "10% done, 100% to go." So hey, you're already doing better than I am!

You'd be surprised; some of those guys crank a plane out in a few months. Of course, that's all they do...PS
