Okay, update time. Haven't done much on Bossk lately, because...
A) I'm out of molding rubber at the moment
B) I've had other projects that required my attention
C) I've been playing with Robby the Robot
But Fri. I had one of my periodic brainstorms and acted upon same. I've been thinking on the fact that the Hasbro flight suit didn't fit the Buck body all that well; too loose around the chest and too short in the torso. My wife says that snugging up the shoulders is an easy fix, but lengthening it would require a second suit, which I'd rather not buy(I still haven't figured out what to do with the leftovers from the set I've already got). Anyway, it occurred to me that Bossk's proportions are a bit "stretched", so I performed a little surgery on the Buck, removing about 1/8" from his mid-torso. You can just see the cut line across his abs.....

Here's Bossk compared to an unmodified Buck(Tarkin). As you can see, the difference is very noticeable, and the fit is better. You can just see the cut line across his abs; I also cut the right thigh to even out his legs, but it hardly made a difference at all...

The shot on the left is the flight suit as it fits without 'scrunching' the upper torso to fit; it's a bit broad, as the original Hasbro body is very deep chested. The right shows it adjusted to the more slender Buck.
I'm expecting a small windfall soon(clients do actually pay me occasionally!) and plan on ordering more rubber soon. Then I mold the head...PS

wouldnt the short buck actually work without having to modify the standard (assuming that is a standard buck with tarkin head) ?.......im not sure of all the different size bucks there are but bespin luke is a shorty.

Very nice work on everything, great eye for detail. I look forward to seeing the final figure. Ryan

Still haven't worked out the feet. They are the most accurate part of the Hasbro figure(appropos'), but they lack articulation. Ironically, the most recent 3 3/4" figure does have an articulated ankle, which seems just a bit weird. As to proportions, Bossk has very long arms(which will be easy to do with a Buck!), so a slightly shorter torso is okay. A Pro body would be too short overall, and I need the cut forearm to get the articulation I want for the arm...PS

This is coming along nicely . Can't wait to see how the head casts come out ! ( I'd definately snap one up ) .

OK, time for an update(finally!). Haven't had much to say lately since I haven't been doing much. The wife and I are house hunting, so I've been trying to keep the clutter to a minimum. This evening I started setting the head and jaw up in clay for molding. Still needs a bit more refinement before it'll be ready to pour. I also have to buy more rubber, which shouldn't be a stretch as I just got a raise at work(must be doing something right!). When I have a working mold I'll let the board know, as I've had quite a few requests for castings. More later...PS

Quite alive. My custom figures tend to be"long-term" projects since I generally have several projects going at the same time(who doesn't?) and usually figure stuff out as I go(again, who doesn't?).My custom Vader, for example took 3 YEARS to finish up, though it was time well spent. The head and jaw mold is now ready for walls; of course, I still need to get rubber(yes, I know, stop complaining and order it)...PS

Well I am glad you got lots to do, makes me feel better about taking so long to start the Imp Officer uniforms for Tarkin and such.:lol

Adding to the fun;I'm also working on a full-size Bossk costume, as an alternative to the Vader suit. As the coverall arrived today, the work can now commence...PS

Quick update:the head and jaw are now ready for rubber. Guess I better get some...PS

Another quick update: Rubber ordered, and I've (finally) come up with a plan for the feet(I want to have articulation in the ankles). Said plan involves alginate, wax and a serious bit of sculpting and re-engineering. Thank Gahd I paid attention all those years in the pattern shop!...PS

I'm glad this project is alive & still going-I for one totally understand how projects can be set on the backburner till other things are sorted out.
I would very much like to be put on the list for your Bossk upgrade pieces when the time comes.

all things come to those who wait! Well I don't enojoy the waiting it gives me gas and makes it hard to sleep at night LOL.

Really want to see some pics Wax... I always get blown away by your skills!!
