Re: UPDATED WIP Custom Dredd 3D Judge Dredd Figure - Painted Un-helmeted HS VERSION 3

The hardest thing about making an Anderson would be the hair. The suit will be easy after having made Dredd. And the design of her suit is actually more simplified by being more streamlined.

Would the hair be wigged or sculpted? I know wigged is harder to tame in some cases

Re: UPDATED WIP Custom Dredd 3D Judge Dredd Figure - Painted Un-helmeted HS VERSION 3

I'd probably at least give it a try at wigged, but I don't like the results I've seen by other customizers. Always looks like a Barbie. Sculpted can work if done right.

Tin - amazing v3!! Surely will make the centerpiece of many collections!

Agreed with you on the wigged vs sculpted. Really prefer the sculpted as to not have the Barbie look.

Re: UPDATED WIP Custom Dredd 3D Judge Dredd Figure - Painted Un-helmeted HS VERSION 3

Guess I'm the only one to prefer the wigged if it's styled correctly. If you look at a photo of the actress and how she appears in the movie, her hair makes her look like a different person!

Yes..100% agree also with Wigged sculpt..very tough not to make look like a Barbie...can't wait so see WIP's! :yess:

Thanks vareika! :hi5: I think it is really hard to style doll hair to look realistic. The figures I've seen that look decent; they keep the hair straight - which wouldn't work for Anderson.

I could try using some kind of animal fur - like guinea pig or long-haired rabbit. But it still would need to be styled regularly or they straighten out.

I've seen pics of her on the red carpet. She's normally brunette I think? And yup - she looks totally different from the movie.

I'm worried that Anderson's hair in the movie is a little too fritzy to use wigged doll hair.

Perfect man! Wow! You killed the head sculpt.

Re: UPDATED WIP Custom Dredd 3D Judge Dredd Figure - Painted Un-helmeted HS VERSION 3

I wasn't very convinced with your previous heads but the V3 really is spot on. The matte finish add more realism. Flawless figure.

That's the thing about Tinister, he'll keep walking it in step-by-step until it's perfect. Just look at how many revisions he did to the Cane figure before it is the masterpiece it now is.

Guy is crazy dedicated :lecture

Re: UPDATED WIP Custom Dredd 3D Judge Dredd Figure - Painted Un-helmeted HS VERSION 3

It's because I tried to sculpt just the jaw area. Once I started the full Urban sculpt - his facial structure started to "make sense" and I was able to figure out the jaw. Once I finish the un-helmeted head - I may swing back around and make a third head with an extreme expression.

Thanks galactiboy! :hi5: Yeah - I went a little crazy with the John Hurt head. I think I made like 7 or 8 versions. LOL

Re: UPDATED WIP Custom Dredd 3D Judge Dredd Figure - Painted Un-helmeted HS VERSION 3

So all that is left for Dredd is the un-helmeted HS - which I'm about 60% done. The gloved hands (25% done). The hands I'm making are about 15% smaller than the HT Terminator hands in the pics - which will allow me to go back and make a new set of gauntlets.

I'm unhappy with the ones shown for two reasons: 1) the big HT hands forced the wrists of the gauntlets to be bigger than I wanted. So I'll taper them down more, and 2) I want to revise the pda in the left gauntlet to be a bit smaller.

That would be amazing! Maybe a hand giving the middle finger? hahaha

Re: UPDATED WIP Custom Dredd 3D Judge Dredd Figure - Painted Un-helmeted HS VERSION 3

LOL. I'm thinking of an expression that is an homage to the comic books. Basically - Urban but with an expression that is something you'd expect in a Bolland illustration. My first idea is Urban baring his teeth in an attack mode.

People are asking where the new pics are so I'm bumping the images:

I think I will design the custom base to accommodate a pose like this:
