Yeah, I know that we can see eye, that is why I asked you And two? One for helmet and one without? And you will all parts then moulded and cast it for other two figures, or make it again from scratch?

Yes; one hs will be for when Dredd has his helmet off. And the other will be for Dredd "in action" - he will be snarling for bearing his teeth.

For all my figures - I completely build the prototype (which is what this one is) to get everything all figured out. Then I break it down to make the molds for the duplicate pieces like the heads, helmet, hands, accessories, etc. And I of course make a new set of jacket/pants from the patterns I made for this prototype.

So the duplicate figures aren't technically made from scratch, but will be exactly like this prototype. Usually better since I make some changes that I didn't get to do with the prototype.

Here are some quick shots of Dredd sporting his new helmet. Now that it is fully painted - you can see that it is just about the right size. When it was all white and all black - it looked larger. Really happy with the semi gloss balance I got on it. I was worried too glossy would make it look toyish. And too matte would make it look cheap. I also made a new visor that extends down a little lower.

Thanks elar! I'm working to finish everything to do with the jacket: Badge, Right Shoulder Pad, and some minor pieces like zipper pulls and buckles for the shoulder straps. Then I can focus on finishing the pants and start on the boots.

Almost forgot about the Concussion Grenade Dispenser! I made a new one a few weeks ago and then completely forgot about it. I basically watched and re-watched the bluray to try to get more detail for this thing. Probably the single most mysterious accessory on Dredd's belt. Part of the problem is that in the movie - it gets bent out of shape constantly so depending on the scene - the glimps you get of it can seem to be completely different. PLUS - there were two designs used by the props department. One is made from thick leather and has a rounded design - all the openings are rounded and the thing has a very cartoonish look. Something the comic book Dredd would have from the 70s era.

I based mine on the one Dredd is seen wearing in the movie. More cylindrical with slim looking openings. And a distinctive "trap door" design at the bottom that holds the grenades in place. It has a very utilitarian look. And I tried to capture the look of it being banged out of shape a bit.

Here are some pics. Hard to take since it is so tiny. About the size of a medicine capsule.

I've been putting off working on Dredd's badge. The majority of my repeat clients want me to "real world" sculpt every piece (instead of 3D modelling it and then 3D printing it out), so I'm locked into it. I just started making the rough blocking for it. Then once it cures - I can go back and clean and sharpen it up.

Thanks elar. Yes - I usually make the HS as the last step. Especially important for this figure since he has a snug fitting removable helmet. I had to wait til I made the helmet - and made sure the helmet was in proper scale with the rest of the body. I've seen way too many figures that started out with the HS - and ended up with bodies that were out of scale with it.
