I think it's REALLY well done for capturing the "essence" of the film and telling the stories under that umbrella. Very impressive from that stand point. I'm not sure they need the celebrity voice actors. I could tell it was them. If they found voice actors who could mimic the voices of the originals that are largely unknown, it may pull me out of the moment less often.
I hope it does well. I don't want to take away from all the good points of this fantastic work, but I do have one thing that is glaring to me as a fault. They changed the origin story of the Skeksis (sp?). Maybe not? Maybe that will be clarified further in and then match up with the film again? So far it doesn't though, which removes the whole point and mythos of the original film (i.e. one being split into two when the crystal cracked). If I'm wrong, please tell me because that left a bad taste in my mouth!
This will get clarified later on in the series. The origin has not changed.
Simon Pegg does an excellent job recreating The Chamberlain.
Yes, a very nearly perfect rendition.
What most surprised me is...When the Chamberlain killed the General. I thought he was going to be the same as the movie version, although he looked very different to me. But now I am intrigued as to how the movie General is going to be incorporated into the series.
If there is a second series that details the Gartham War that kills off all the Gelfling except for Jen and Kira, then they'll have to bring the Gartham Master in. My questions are, where is the Gartham Master now?.. will we find out what is happening with the Mystics all this time, and what of the Heretic and Wanderer off in exile? They are never mentioned in the original movie (like the two Skeksi killed off in the TV series), so will they be killed off, or did they merge at the time of The Conjunction off-screen?
