The reply from Sideshow below. Pretty much what I was expecting.
I hate having any broken pieces on my statues, so most likely will have them send me a replacement base. And then hope that my Phoenix fits it properly. More than once I have had a base or statue replacement sent to me and then have had issues making it fit properly.
But on really close inspection of the crotch crack, it is a crease in the sculpt. The paint has just adhered to it over top and in the crease making it look like a crack. I think if a person with more skill then I have was to clean out the paint, then it would just be a crease. I would be scared to because if i clean it out then it will most likely leave a blank line with no paint. I think that the paint was applied too heavily (or not heavy enough) and that has left the look of it being a crack.
Plus the crease itself is very hard to notice. I was inspecting the statue with a bright flash light and that was the only way it was noticeable. And I was very close up to see it.
From Sideshow,
Thanks for taking the time to reach out, I'm sorry to see you've been having issues with Dark Phoenix! In regards to the "crack" on the inner leg, I can advise this is actually normal - this is actually a sculpted crease so small, the paint didn't adhere to it completely. Our own display piece looks exactly the same, and any replacement we could provide you would be similar or identical.
As for the base, you may be able to repair the broken flame right at home, using medium strength Zap-A-Gap to reattach it! If you would be willing to try this and keep the item as is, we can offer you a $55.00 Sideshow credit as compensation. This credit is free and clear of restrictions, and can be used on any existing order or future purchase. Please be aware that accepting this credit will close your inquiry, so you cannot ask for an additional replacement/exchange/refund for this issue after taking this credit offer.
If this is not the route you want to take, let us know and we will continue to look into other options for you. Just let us know how you want to proceed before February 9th, so we can get this taken care of for you as quickly as possible!
