Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Last night the tragic death of Heath Ledger struck me hard. I was in a dark mood all night, dealing with the loss of an up and coming actor whom I deeply respected. When I sat down to paint last night, I really couldn't even force myself to lift my brush.

I saw a slew of heads before me and just didn't feel it happening. And then I saw my own Ledger Joker head, already attached to a body, staring back at me. I knew what had to be done. In tribute to Heath, I was determined to finish the paint up and honor him with something positive in this dark time....

So here it is... My tribute to Heath...Dark Knight Joker. (the clothes are temporary, just place holders for now.)

Heath would be honored Josh, you've done an amazing job, way to turn something so bad around into something positive.

Thanks bro... I was just torn apart last night. Much more than I thought I would be. It was just hard to deal, this paint up helped me to get through it... I can only imagine how his family must feel...

I think you and I, as well as the other artists around here are in a fortunate position to have our art as an outlet for our feelings, I can't imagine having to feel things and face situations helpless to deal with it. At least we can pick up our brush or our camera or mouse and create and let go of it all and take ourselves away from our ills.

Once again, great paint job Josh, you turned a non Ledger sculpt into Heath Joker most beautifully. Given the right lighting to match TDK, I'd swear you'd fight to figure out if that's a figure or him.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Perfectly captures Ledger's Joker. Absolutely awesome. This is, IMHO, the best work I've seen you do Josh. :rock

Quality is directly related to passion, and you can tell the passion that Josh put into this piece, it paid off.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thanks a bunch guys... This figure is a dedication, my own goodbye to Heath... And it means a lot to me that you guys like it, I only wish that it had been painted in celebration of the work he did and not in mourning his death...

Heath will be missed and his work will live on for him. He will live on my shelf in another form... :bow

I will cast this head eventually, when I go see Les next.... Just to share this with anyone who wants it. Heath's Joker was an inspiration and I want to share this piece with as many people as I can.

This figure is Fantastic! Congrats... really captured Heath's Joker perfectly... so sad he died... I was shocked last night... he was one of the best young actors out there...

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

When ever you get around to casting it I'll take one. I'd love to have this in my collection.

Well done Bro.

I couldn't work (write) yesterday either, my mind kept wandering to Heath, never got more than a half scene done all day. Today is not much better. Seems like this was at least good therapy as your mind was focused.

I think it's difficult for many to comprehend what I'm saying, but other Artists may understand. It's not just about being distracted or shocked by the tragic news, it's about constantly being drawn to the inner soul of a fellow gifted Artist I respect in my Industry, and about the creative light that was extinguished in HIS Art more than anything else...

Anyway, Congrats Josh. I think I know where your head was at.

Josh, let me just say that by far you are the most decent and friendly person on this site, you're all heart bro! The Ledger looks AMAZING, God rest his soul. When I first came to these boards nobody really gave me the time of day or replied to my PM's, you've always been there for me and helped me better my collection by far!

You're my favorite artist period and I wish most people had half the heart you do! Take care! Again GREAT work on the Heath Joker it looks fantastic!

Roy.
