Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

One fine day at the Les Walker home, in walks Josh...

"I need your paints, your brushes, and your workbench."

"Hahahaha, you forgot to say please."

*Les smears paint all over Josh's face with his brush*

*Josh grabs Les's hand and picks him up throwing him across the room*

*Les tosses Josh his brush*

"Take it."

I can't wait for Les to read that... :lol HILARIOUS... Had me falling out of my chair over here. The funny thing was, having been there... I could visualize the entire thing. :rotfl

Listen, and understand. DarkArtist is out there. He can't be bargained with. He can't be reasoned with. He doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely will not stop, ever, until his commissions are done.

BEST line EVER! If I could put that in my sig... I would. You guys are too freakin funny... :rock:rock:rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

The figure machine, Skynet, sent two figure makers back in time to produce the most amazing Ledger Joker figure out there. The first DCD, was sent to tackle this project while the movie was still being made, it failed. The second, DarkArtist was sent to make a figure as anticipation for the film was at its peak. As before, the competition sent it's own man, Les Walker, to come up with the best figure. It was just a matter of which one would make the best figure first...

Sorry for the insanity Josh, I'm running on 3 hours sleep today haha. I'm done for tonight though, off to get some rest.

Hasta la vista.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

This is what is going to happen between you and me at Comicon:
Knock knock.
"Uh yes."
"Anguish?"
"Not yet."

Awesome post Sean! Les and I talked about that too, how each of us attacked a certain time frame of anticipation and used the reference of our time... Really cool to see the evolution of the projects over the last few months.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Blam! Ha! :D Ya got me!

OK, let me say one thing I do feel strongly about...in regards to Maulfan's comic blurb...this all has never been a competition. Not to me.
Anyone who knows me knows how I feel about competitive art. I will bow out of a thing if it becomes competitive where one's creative side is concerned, as it is all so subjective anyway, so please, let't not make this field some contest.

Josh has made, and is making still, some FANTASTIC original works of ART, for those lucky enough to get them, his Joker figures. Full figures. I am not doing that. No contest.
He is also making what I think is THE best Michael Myers figures ever made. Period. Again, no contest. I want one. I will not even try to make one. I am getting one of his super products. So again, no contest.

That his Joker project stimulated my own, my own personal one, is the way inspiration works. I hope everyone here benefits from that, a sea of inspiration and not competition.

The day all this does becomes a mere contest, I will simply leave. No lie. I have no taste for that. I hate that. Always will. So let's refrain from ever using that term again shall we, even in jest. (Sorry Sean, not picking on you or your well intended humorous Terminator related comment, just had to say this)

I for one am damn glad to have such an inspirational pal as Josh.

Ok, let the mutual BLAMMING continue. I was enjoying that. :D

Oh, and Josh,

BLAM!

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Sorry if I created an image of competition between you too, that's certainly not the case.

I've, since getting to know both of you better, always perceived you two like brothers, it's one of the greatest treats of this board to not only see the individual growth and talents of you both, but to see the friendship and bond that we see here.

You both stand as not only inspiration artisticly, but as a model for the brotherhood that can be achieved, even over great lengths, through the mutual enjoyment of this hobby.

You're both two of the classiest guys on this board and integral parts of it, can't imagine the SSF boards without DA and FML around.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Great posts Sean and Les. I too would never want to see this place become a competition, especially between Les and I. He's been my best friend and my mentor, and our work has always been best as art first...work second. My art is inspired heavily by his, and so are my choices at times. We talk a lot, mostly about non-work stuff... In fact, my latest Horror surge is primarily because of Les prodding me and helping me to find it in my mind.

I'm INFINITELY proud of his Joker, and for the amazing level of work that he put into it. I know how special it was to him and what it meant to get it done. Inspiration is fantastic, Les inspires me... I inspire him... I can't tell you how much my art has improved having met him and pushing myself to greater heights. Both of our Jokers feel, to me, like a huge group project. We all paved road here and there, all found ways to do things... and we found our path a bit differently but the results are in the same vein.

And one day, Les and I will complete the cycle and watch the TDK together and put our Jokers on the same shelf for a photo shoot... This year has been both sad and amazing, but we made it through together as friends and still managed to create. :rock

And Les...

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Good work on Alba Josh, any idea what the base sculpt for it is, never knew a likeness of her existed in 1/6.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thanks man... It is from the Sue Storm figure from FF, I think Toybiz made it... not sure. It's not a horrible sculpt, but still a bit off. Painting it was a pain. The eyebrows are sculpted in the wrong spot and the lips are weird, But I think I found a decent likeness in there.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

If I can chime in regarding Josh and Les, I say thank goodness you two are inspiring each other. Every time I look at Myers or Joker, I am amazed at just how awesome the pieces are. I'm sure it will just be a matter of time before I become a Les addict, just as I have become a Josh addict.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Its kind of strange to see a naked Jessica Alba doll. :lol

Well, I can just imagine the offness of it, so even more kudos to you for putting there what wasn't. Your paint job is superb, the only off things about the likeness lay in the sculpt at places no bruch can change, but she's instantly recognizable to the casual glance, so you've done your job very well.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Hey Josh!
You had a painting tutorial in the "ATTENTION all Custom Artists!!" thread. I think you were planning on fixing the pictures. Were you going to do that? I was just wondering, as I am delving into the human head painting and it's not going to well.
Of course, you could deny me, then I'd be forced to send my heads to you for painting. But you are far to overworked for that!
:)

In the same vein, I think I'm going to have another go at getting some content on the "customizer's wiki," would you mind if I republished that tutorial?
