Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thanks Roy! I'm really happy with how he turned out. I think I got the skin looking a lot better than I did the first go round. :rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Damn, dude that is awesome! And I can't think of a single grimier figure :lol Totally your element dude :rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thanks Joseph,... you are correct there... I don't think that there has ever been another action hero that's been through quite as much Hell as John by the end of Die Hard. :lol

Even Ash has a hard time holding a candle to John's griminess.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Josh, you've done an amazing job with the "cowboy". I hope to someday have a Die Hard version figure of John, but I'm still waiting to see a really solid portrait. The one you'd painted here and I'm pretty was the same for Les' custom is alright, but there's just a very distinct look to Willis' face and a true, proper figure needs that bit of magic too. Maybe with luck, Hot Toys will go after the license.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

that is john frikking mcclane! every mcclane custom i've seen so far has been way too clean. yours captures the action he went through in die hard perfectly.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Here is Ashton's Die Hard John McClane. It might need a few touch ups though, that damn clear flat is so strong it sometimes takes paint away... it's like Thinner. :google

Strange, that looks exactly like the Frontline head with the resculpted hair I did a few years ago. I had sent it to Les and he made a mold and some copies for me.

Well, there's a lot of room for representing the character. Josh's paint here is pretty much the finale of the film.

"Hanssssssss!!!!!"

"Oh yes, what was it you said to me before....yippee-kay-ya...mother^^^^er."

Damn, thats one filthy ^^^^er!

absolutely right. i just meant to me, mcclane is the badass i love because of how he looks at the end of the movie.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Holy f#$%ing ass-crackers....I'm late to the party! :monkey5

You probably tend to hear a lot of the same compliments over and over, so it's hard to say anything unique....but all flattery aside, that's an incredible figure. What's really cool, is it's even better than the one that made me inquire about the commission in the first place :lol

Damn if it wasn't well worth the wait.

That is John McClane:

This is my first DA piece (of many to come, I'm sure) and it's appropriately amazing.

I gotta stop now before it starts sounding like an acceptance speech :monkey1 But dude, you're awesome.

That's precisely the one I wanted. A clean McClane almost doesn't seem right :lol (unless it's from Die Hard 2)

Agreed, I'm not big on the idea of a totally clean one. I'd probably go somewhere between your figure and clean, dirtied enough you know he's been around, but still clean enough to represent more generally. I pretty much photography every collectible I ever own now though, so that's a big factor in my choices with figures, which is why I had my DA Myers done without the bullet holes, it'd be cool, but for H1 only captures the last moments and I wanted more diversity with my images.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

amazing!!!!! just unbelievable!! you have done a great job of actually hiding the articulation with all the bloody paint!! and the details are insane with the tattoo and the body count painted, as well as the bandages on his feet. just awesome!!

I just talked to Les and unfortunately it IS the one you did. Don't worry, Les doesn't have a mold of it himself or anything. When I made my first trip to see him, I was going through his drawers and asked for a few test casts to take home and work on. Your head was one of the test casts, riddled with bubbles and an uneven neck.

I fixed it, and left it in my parts bin for at least a year or so... And when Ashton came to me wanting for me to make him a McClane.. I used the head. I don't even have another for myself or anything, this really was a fluke...

You did outstanding work on the hair, and Les and I both are sincerely sorry that this happened. Les was really worried about it, he doesn't want you to think he has a bunch of these laying around or anything.. nor does he want for you to think that he doesn't have the utmost respect for what you did.

I take full responsibility... it was my mess up. :banghead

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

And thank you ALL for your kind words on this figure, I really wanted to capture that McClane we all love from the end of the film... Bloodied and battered all to Hell. I only wish I could get a 1:6 version of that Christmas tape for the gun on his back. :lol

And full credit for the greatness of the head (the hair extension) goes out to toyadventurer. He did outstanding work on it, I thought something looked better on this head... Never realized that he did it. :rock
