That was a very moving post Darren. We're all here to support you and to cheer you up my friend.

Yeah, we're here bro!
And hey, you can show US the ring! :D I for one would be honored.

And for what it's worth, I believe he sees it. He knows. :rock

I've been remiss and I completely missed checking out your thread.
My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family at this time.
Be well Darren...

Darren, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I haven't read this thread in a while and was not aware of your loss. I'm am truly saddened and sorry to hear this. Whenever there has been a loss in family we always say one word to each other "Courage". So I say Courage to you my friend, be strong, offer strength to your family members. If you need anyone to talk to we are here for you! Again, my condolences.

take care of yourself Darren. With everything going on, i'm sure i speak for everyone by saying that we all have NO problems waiting for our commissions. Your physical and mental health are the most important things at hand right now.

lol was this on the third page? Shows how 'miles away' I've been... I didn't even notice.

Anyway.. I'm back! All emails and messages are finished, and right now as I type this I'm making a full list of what I need to get done (commissions paid for etc) and I'm about to put them into what order I need to do them. I'll probably post this list on my blog or maybe email it to people... just so they know where they are on the list. Instead of just having to wait blindly.

After that... (should take an hour maybe) I'm sculpting and painting again!! good to be back :)

You may have missed my PM Darren ;)

Good to know you're back!:chew

Thanks Keith! (Spidey, I did miss it... I'll reply in a few minutes, although this below may answer your question)

I've just gone through my waiting list, and in an attempt to speed things up a little now that I'm back, I've created this list... which not only shows what I'll be doing and in what order... but for the first time I've given myself a deadline for each piece (or batch of pieces)

Hopefully this will get rid of the "oh my god I've got too much to do" mentality and allow me to focus on one week's work at a time... and thereby getting more done. Also it has the benefit of allowing people to see where they are on the list and when (approx) they can expect their work to be finished.

*note: I appreciate that sometimes I'll get things finished before the deadline, and sometimes after... but these are dates I've set myself that I'm aiming for*

If you've paid for work from me, then you'll probably see your pieces here on the list. If you're not sure or want confirmation then pm or email me and I'll confirm if it's your commission you can see.

(I haven't included any of the Terminator heads simply for the fact that the new batch of heads is being cast as we speak... once they get here then I will included them on the list, but for now I'm just showing things I can do right now)

Darren

Great to see you back Darren.
I hope to schedule when I get my layovers done after my break. They will take a while as they are. Then maybe in June I can try deadlines.
Great to see so much coming! :rock

thanks folks, 'tis good to be back. I hope I can stick to these deadlines... not only will it mean people will get their commissions faster, but also it means I'll get through more... which in turn means I can do more new things

So hopefully it will be good all round. And as for the Ripley, Reinhardt is correct, it's his Aliens Rip... and if it works out as good as I think it will, I'll offer casts. As for whether it will be turned into an Alien version (always my plan) that depends on whether Hot Toys does their own version first... and if it's better or not lmao

Anyway..... back to work for me!!

oh... before I DO go... pixle.. we need to get the details of the Lennon head all confirmed before I start. Hairstyle... face expression... just so I know what I'm aiming for :) This is your baby after all

oh, one more thing that i meant run by you guys that I'm thinking of doing. As you're aware we're getting married in September... with (hopefully) the honeymoon of a lifetime straight after.... So at the moment we're trying to save every penny (buying cheaper food 'n' stuff) and earn every penny (selling junk on ebay, jane doing overtime or whatever).

Up to now I've always wanted to keep my 'prototypes' of my figures, the very first Anakin I painted... the first Aragorn.. etc. But recently I've been thinking I might let them go if it helps bring money in to make the wedding/honeymoon a reality. Put them up on eBay or something.

The way I've talked myself into looking at it, is that I can always buy the figures again and repaint new ones.

What do you guys think... would people be interested in buying 'Darren Carnall Prototypes'? lol, or would i not get much more than the cost of the figures.

Genuine opinions welcomed here... I really don't know what to do, lol

Would I be intrested in buying them? Heck yeah! If I can afford them.

That being said I think it would be a shame to sell all of them. While you can always make them again, there will never be another first.

Although on the other hand, the honeymoon will be a memory you will take with you for the rest of your life and while you could always make another figure the two of you won't be going on another honeymoon together (well at least most likely not, it has happened though).

My wife and I pretty much figured our honeymoon was our chance to go on a trip we would always treasure and might never get a chance at doing again. We went to the South Pacific and it ended up costing a pretty penny but if I was given the choice between my figures or that trip I'd chose the trip.

I guess you need to ask yourself if getting rid of them is something you think you'll end up regretting. Personally I wouldn't want to have regrets about the honeymoon (regrets of either not doing everything you wanted to do or of selling your figures). We're expecting our second child in a couple of weeks and between lack of room and also a lot of the expeneses I've been selling off some stuff I never thought I'd get rid of but my wife while she would love to see all the junk go has made it very clear to me that she dosen't want to get rid of anything that I'm going to be regretting about later.

Maybe look at the protos and judge them each individually.
