Congrats to all who ordered this so far!!!

I'm probably not going to be able to buy ANYTHING since I'm the starving college student again :monkey2

But hopefully I can pick this up later..... Sad to say, nothing SW has really appreciated over time  That's good news for me if I wanna pick this up later, but bad news if I ever need to sell some of my stuff...

yep... makes waiting easier to handle.

I wonder even though if this does sell out before I sell a few items, will the WL pan out for this piece. I could see a lot of ppl canceling this because of fundage when it comes down to the end.

$300 bones if guaranteed to me by Wed :banghead

this is a really tough decision.......I really want this but that 250 deposit makes me uncomfortable not know ing what the final piece will look like.....we as collectors have been disappointed many times by the final piece in hand and I am afraid that this might happen here too.

its a real tough call

I dunno. Canceling would mean losing $250. There may be some cancellations, but I would think most people would only order if they're positive they will keep it.

The deposit will really help with mass cancellations. Of course, there will be some who risk it and lose the $250 when they don't have the other thousand in March--but that number will be greatly reduced because the deposit will weed a lot of the fence-sitters out before they even place the order. The ES is going to be set a lot closer to the actual number of people who are prepared to close the deal.

Also interesting that SSC is not offering free shipping on this......they used to do that with items priced over $900

I can understand where Sideshow is coming from, but I still don't think it's right to charge a large non-refundable deposit on something that won't be shipping for a year (and may or may not turn out like the prototype). That's essentially loaning Sideshow $250 for 1 year. I still think a cancellation fee would've been the way to go.

This and the helmet have me rethinking this piece, frankly. I just don't like being rushed into decisions like this.

:lecture Same here. And it doesnt help that it says 1s Qtr. 2010 with final flex-pay payment being Feb. There's no way i could afford it if it ships after Christmas. The bust would cost me about $1700 total.

I think he ordered more then just Vader.

I have all the others and would have ordered the ex if it wasn't for the non-refundable deposit.:vader

Tru tru, both good valid points... So how does a WL work whenever a deposit is required. Do you get contacted or once you are converted you see $250 missing from you bank account :lol

placed my order for the exclusive. I didn't even realize it was going to ship so soon...but I will make it work one way or another.

I wonder about that as well... no idea as this is the first time I've ordered anything that required a deposit :lol

Although shiipping of $40 isn't too bad considering how massive this package is likely to be.

It's funny--based on my proximity to Sideshow, the system gave me a shipping estimate of $35. That's actually five dollars less than the mandatory flat rate, lol.

That is exactly what's causing me to hesitate. I love the prototype. The dome, not so much, but the revealed portrait, mask detailing, and its overall presence really impress me.

That said, I was disappointed by the 1:1 Iron Man bust and still remember some horror stories about the paint on the initial batch of MR Vader helmets (chips, distortions, bad touch up spots, etc.). I'm not 100% confident that this will turn out as nice as it should, and I need to be in order to plunk down the $250. I hope that the "non" part of the non-refundable deposit will be negotiable if there are widespread quality control issues when this thing releases.

Ultimately, I'm sure I'll end up ordering it; I'm too big a fan of Vader (and the reveal in particular) not to get this one. I guess we'll just have to hope for the best!

You have to pay the deposite even if it's only a WL reservation :lol
