That 250 deposit is whats killing it for me. I would have pre ordered instantly if not for that. i just cant swing the deposit right now :-(

The Alter Ego rewards point system gives you 2% back as opposed to 5% with Sideshow, so all together the stand ends up costing you about $130 if you go for the exclusive over the regular from AE. Kind of a lot in my opinion.

Most definitely is a big difference. And that's really the lure of the exclusive items in that you have a bit more assurance that (if worse comes to worse) you'll recoup what you paid if selling the item.

I don't think the stand will set the world on fire, but in the long run it may add more value to the piece. Also, even though AE has excellent CS... I do feel more comfortable dealing direct with Sideshow for a piece this expensive.

I'm pretty sure I want this, and am pretty close to biting the bullet and pre-ordering the EX. The Flex Pay seems very doable. I am a little concerned, like most, about what the finished product will end up looking like. But I was wondering...I've never returned anything to Sideshow for any reason, so I'm not real familiar with their policies. If I didn't like the finished product (I'll probably love it, I'm not real picky...unless the paint was a mess), couldn't I send it back and return it to Sideshow for a refund? Is there any penalty, minus the cost to ship it back to them of course.

If you order the bust with the non-refundable deposit, then get the bust and don't like it, you can return it within 30 days. However, you will not get back the $250 or $240 deposit you first put down. So, you will get back $1249.99-$250 = $999.99. :sick

Have to say, the stand does have some interesting details to it. Not being the final product, I wonder if there is any chance Sideshow would chose to add a dummy neck... it would be so cool to have a full mask additional display option.

I can understand where Sideshow is coming from, but I still don't think it's right to charge a large non-refundable deposit on something that won't be shipping for a year (and may or may not turn out like the prototype). That's essentially loaning Sideshow $250 for 1 year. I still think a cancellation fee would've been the way to go.

This and the helmet have me rethinking this piece, frankly. I just don't like being rushed into decisions like this.

I dunno. Canceling would mean losing $250. There may be some cancellations, but I would think most people would only order if they're positive they will keep it.

The deposit will really help with mass cancellations. Of course, there will be some who risk it and lose the $250 when they don't have the other thousand in March--but that number will be greatly reduced because the deposit will weed a lot of the fence-sitters out before they even place the order. The ES is going to be set a lot closer to the actual number of people who are prepared to close the deal.

Actually, there is a cancellation fee on top of the deposit. Sure the fee won't be as much as the $1000 balance on the whole thing, but it'll cost more than the $250 to cancel this item.

Certainly not an oh my I must have it item, but for what little extra it costs to get the stand to support the pieces when they're off and still make a nice display, it's worth it, and given the price and potential for issues based on the Iron Man situation, I feel safest dealing direct with the source.

I like that it has a design evocative of Vader's mediation chamber and isn't just some generic black stand.

That's kind of what I was thinking... and has the imperial symbol on it as well. So not just a basic stand.

But, man if it came with an extra neck :rock

Extra neck would be sweet. I like the the stand looks like it'll keep the rest just a few inches off the surface, instead of sky high light the IC version which is a bit too tall to me.

Help me out guys...to those who have the Emperor 1:1 bust, how did that turn out? Since he's a human like Anakin, I'm still leary of preordering this thing with that big deposit.

Although it does say "NOT FINAL PRODUCT"
Hopefully it stays true to what we are seeing here

This asking for 250 down when the final piece hasnt been shown is really bothering me :(

Im all for the 250 depsoit, as long as I know what I am getting, it makes it much harder to fork over cash when there is a chance things could go wrong with the final product

The paint detail on the eyes isn't as in depth as the prototype, but the overall piece looks fantastic in my opinion.

And the thing to remember is that face that have a lot of charcter (wrinkles, scars, etc.) seem to come out best in production. I think the Anakin portrait w/maybe the exception of his eyes, will be pretty much like we see him.

I'm having a nerd moment, please entertain my question! :D In ROTS Anakin's face is burned pretty bad and his ears are practically gone, yet in ROTJ Anakin's face has lots of smooth skin and his ears are perfect, was this done over time with more surgeries ?? Has it been explained in the EU books??

He does looks pretty good. I see what you mean about wanting to pose him and Vader facing each other. Too bad they're looking the same direction.

Agreed, I think as far as the Anakin head, a slight drop in detailing of the eyes is all that will occur, that's the only difference I've observed from proto to production with any of these busts, skin tones have remained very strong.

It's actually like that he had many surgeries over the years after the Mustafar Duel...
