The Flex-Pay payments (my first and only experience with this) have been regular, so I still think something in late February is likely.

Late February could be tough, although, if it does ship when I'm not ready, I think I'll easily enough be able to convert this to Flex in the cancel process, so even though I'd have to wait extra from everyone else, should allow me to not have to cancel. I like the Flex alternative to cancelling, but at the time of purchase I'm not into it, I don't like the idea of committing 2/3 of the cost before the thing ever ships or your know how it turned out and there's no refund on that. At least the down payment on this was only 1/5 the total cost.

I would assume if the item arrives botched in some way we would receive a full refund even though a deposit was required. I could be wrong, but I assume as long as I pay for the item the full value could be recouped if returned or we get into a Iron Man Bust situation.

I've been trimming my collection lately and keeping the money in my Paypal account so I won't spend it. At this point (barring any unforseen problems) I'll be able to take the hit whenever he ships.

When I took my 1:1 collection shot the other day, I was thinking to myself, wow, I'm actually going to have a Vader bust, I dreamed of it for a long time, hard to imagine it's going to be a reality.

I can't believe I've even though of it, but I'm thinking I might actually swap out my Sideshow Maul display for a Darth Vader setup when this arrives, Anakin portrait on display, helmet on the base, 1/6 Vader standing with it all, I think it'd really shine.

I'm curious to see how the final display stand for the Ex. turns out, not expecting the big change we all hoped for, though that'd rock, but the picture on the site seems like a 3D rendering more than a real image, and there's no show of it in use to see how it all looks together.

Yeah, I don't think the big stand improvement will happen... but as it is its still a fine design. I'll likely never use it as I think I will almost always have Vader in full mask; but I imagine I'll play with him and show him off quite a bit when people visit :lol

I definitely plan at least a 50/50 split of time between Anakin portrait and Vader, I'm not sure how much I'd have wanted this bust if it didn't have the ability to show Anakin's face, it's a very treasured moment from ROTJ for me.

i really wish they would show the actual stand, not sure if it's worth the premium price going through SS for it rather than an etailer and the regular version.

I got it through Sideshow because i wanted the stand so that i can display both the Head and the helmet together. I'd like to get the eFX concept Vader helmet too for a hat trick. I do suspect that i'm going to have some problems displaying and storing this piece though. Still, it's not likely to come until end of March though.

... I'm not sure how much I'd have wanted this bust if it didn't have the ability to show Anakin's face, it's a very treasured moment from ROTJ for me.

But he isn't remorseful like the ROTJ reveal, this is just a badass villain Vader unmasked. :vader :horror

True, it's not an exact representation of Jedi, but seeing the Anakin face in any capacity still brings me back to that scene, looking at it I still can hear in my head the music as Luke takes away each piece of the mask and we finally take our first glimpse at the face of Anakin Skywalker, at least those of us who saw ROTJ before any PT film. That's one thing I'm very happy about seeing 4-6 before 1-3, the power of the first glimpse left a huge impression on me, I can't imagine what it'd be like to watch that having known Anakin for 3 films before that, I imagine a lot of the power is sucked out of it.

I'm changing this to Flex-pay when the 20day notice comes out. I have the Predalien coming from a retailer and have to pay for that in one lump sum. Can't do both so close together. Plus I already plan on using part of my tax refund for the Warrior maquette.
It should work out great. My plans for "less is more" is really working out well. I have to pass on some smaller pieces that I like but, these big treasures make up for it.

The newsletter now says February for Vader :banana

Star Wars: Darth Vader Life-Size Bust - #2973 & Ex. #29731 Now February 2010

Not sure if it ever changed... but at least we can now expect it next month :google

How do you go about getting a Flex plan after ordering it? Do you go to cancel, and then it asks if you want to FLEX it?

I would hate to accidentally lose my deposit, maybe its safer to call and ask?

Sweet! I'm very nervous and excited about this piece... excited as it has the potential to be the #1 piece in my collection; nervous as every so often Sideshow has some terrible QC issue :monkey2

Yeah, I've been lucky as well... I just know I'd be crushed if I got a piece with flaking paint or some other oddity. But, even in a worst case scenario I know Sideshow will at least take returns.

But trying not to think that way :lol
