Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

So Harley is in love with a fugazi? Fake Joker made her ? It's highly unlikely. If Batman has been around for 20 years and he had a sidekick at some point, it'd be interesting to see how things have changed in Gotham in that twenty year period, including how criminals got increasingly worse over time.

Perhaps Joker has been around for 20 years too, and in the "early" years he didn't have the tattoos and he looked more traditional, so in the current film we're watching Joker after 20 years in Gotham...things change, and so did his style.

I'd love to see a prequel or some kind of sequence like the opening of Watchmen, showing how things changed in those 20 years. I can just imagine a younger optimistic Batman wearing a pre Frank Miller suit with the yellow emblem , fighting crime alongside Robin and eventually meeting a classic looking Joker wearing his purple suit, his teeth still intact, no battle scars on his face, and no tattoos.

joker having a midlife crisis then...
it explains the flashy car and the 26 year old girlfriend :lol so a 50 year old joker dressing like a 20 year old edgy kid, it checks out
who knows maybe the green hair is a toupee because he feels nervous about getting older lol
reminds me of emo dad lol :lol omg......this joker is emo dad :rotfl

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I HIGHLY doubt DC & WB are trying to go that cerebral with The Joker possibly being Robin. Jared Leto is the Joker. I know that sucks for people who don't like the look, but it is what it is. They care about the general public with their films, which is why there's no way they will try a storyline with a real and fake Joker. That stuff may work for comic fans, but will be too confusing for the average movie goer who knows very little about the DC universe. They like to keep things nice and easy, while basically spoon feeding the audience a plot. This isn't an A24 indie film, this is a WB major blockbuster, and I think people are giving them WAY too much credit by thinking they have a long story arc across multiple movies where surprise surprise Jared Leto isn't really The Joker. Just not going to happen.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

God almighty.

This Joker isn't Robin. It's vague and blink or you'll miss it, but this Joker and Harley are responsible for the death of Robin. Look at her character stats and rap sheet when they pop up and you see the movie. She's wanted for murder, guess who. Joker can't be Robin when Harley and him killed him and their flashback in Arkham would predate Robin's alleged death.

The only reason this Joker is so extreme with the tats and the grill is because that's the aesthetic of the characters for this movie. Grungy, degenerate punks. That and WB and Ayer let Leto go crazy with his choices on how the character should look or act. The Joker isn't in it for long, less than 10 mins, so my guess is Leto wanted to do something extreme (visual choices, "pranking" fellow co-stars with gags like dead animals, etc.) to stand out. Can't blame the guy for what little he's given, he had to do something over the top to stand out. Something that's always been Joker's MO. Jared Leto is a good actor in a bad movie with a meh script. He chews up his scenery like Tommy Lee Jones or Jim Carrey because he kind of has to. Still one of the better parts of the movie despite his disappointing screen time/role.

"He's not teh real Joker" is just what some people want because of how he looks. That's been a common theme going all the way back to that very first promo pic. That's too bad, get over it. :lol

Hopefully Leto returns and the Joker is fleshed out more in the Batman solo film or whatever plans they have for him.
