Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I saw a clip where they assembled Task Force X while Black Sabbat's Paranoid was playing; strange that this isn't featured on the album.

Can they get more cringy? https://www.comicbookmovie.com/suicide_squad/how-did-jai-courtney-prepare-for-suicide-squad-by-taking-shrooms-a143998

I mean, come on, "horrific military tapes"? Actual recordings of Japanese cannibals? Shrooms and self inflicted burns? The more I hear, the less hyped I become. It's a shame, really, as the Ostrander book was great.

I think at this point, I'm starting to look at Ayer.

Shia did the same method stuff for Fury.

Eh, I don't know, it rubs me the wrong way. It's like a huge commercial of "badassness" and "edginess". Method stud or not, it's cringy to talk about how "nuts" you went for a role. Besides, it's ****ing Nu52 Suicide Squad, not Macbeth...

PS: I loved Fury BTW. Great movie, and Pitt & Bernthal were great in it.

after reading the article i have to say I agree, Ayer is a sick dude lol

I though Shia chose to do all that crazy stuff like cutting his face for real, i didnt read Ayer asking him to do it

Apart from your well judged by words a while back, I'm starting to see this myself. Pity.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Nah man, it's the retribution of CBMs. It might look like dumb fun and edgyness, but it's actually a very complex character piece...

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

A dumb action movie? Yeah its a movie about batman bad guys teaming up to save the world, I don't understand what some are expecting. I think the more hype people are the people who are hyped to see a croc/human hybrid, witch, ninja, two psychopathic killers, and a guy who throws boomerangs rather than dudes in capes with the same moral dilemmas everytime. There's really only so many ways it can go down... I'm just glad Ayer took a leap of faith and decided to overstylize the whole thing. As for the over advertising the ****ed up things the cast is doing ...at least they are having fun. And its pretty easy to ignore these facebook articles.

I also think maybe we should put ourselves back in our middle school minds because that's kind of the target audience, and if I was 15 i'd eat this **** up. In fact watching these trailers make me feel like I'm 15 again!

a lot of us were expecting an edgy funny crazy movie like Kickass or a Deadpool (Without the cursing obviously)
If anything people are expecting another Guardians of the Galaxy. an action movie with a lot of creative stuff in it and a lot of jokes and crazy action scenes

They are promoting this like the Next Zombieland.... a crazy action comedy with violence and sassy characters.

so thats what I was saying, this is going to end up being a regular action movie that was marketed like the Next guardians or deadpool

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

gotchya. guardians definitely was beautiful and had a good ( if not a little over baring) soundtrack and I loved the makeup/look of the characters but it was pretty damn general ( I mean the characters really were not that interesting except tree guy and talking raccoon, although not much of characters in the long run). Deadpool felt pretty general to me, really wasn't that violent or crude probably could have been pg13 (ive only seen it once so maybe I'm wrong). I think Kick-ass is really the only one you mentioned that really shook up the formula with ultra violence and a sense of self awareness that I thought was done much better than deadpool.

I honeslty had no idea people thought this was going to be an action/comedy. I figured fantasy/action with the same amount of comedy every action movie has. Just a little more fun because bad guys are more fun. I don't understand the creative stuff people think is missing from this? Clearly there is a bunch of supernatural elements, sci-fi, horror, and Of course some humor with Harley.

im just talking about the marketing, if you were a normie that knew nothing about this movie and you saw this, what would you think the movie is like? (with that tagline, the colors, the crazy drawings)

now add the music from the trailers..... i mean...

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Id still think a 15 year old boy doodling comic book action in his notebook listening to rock and rap. Its not like its starring chris pratt from parks and rec, or Jessie eisenburg from teen comedies. I'm willing to bet Smith will be a sarcastic ******* like always... everyone loves to hate on him "SMithing up the role" but hey he didn't get his own show and then become a superstar by blind luck.

Its clearly a dirty dozen type movie, bunch of misfits teaming up to probably learn that theres some good in them and save some people for once. I'm sure there will be action, comedy, some serious scenes, some lovin. And I'd be damned if that action in the trailers didn't look superb.

I think maybe the hype is just personal for me. Ive read comics just to get a glimpse of characters like these...and now they are on screen. Not in some half assed Nolan versey way, not dressed up like semi gi joe people (I'm talking to you avengers). Killer croc is a croc, kitanas sword has skulls floating out of it, and joker is an absolute mad man.

:exactly:

At the very least it'll be a movie with wild aesthetics and crazy action. Good performances and story will be icing on the cake.

Well put, although I expect at least decent performances from some characters, I'm thinking this is gonna be around a 6 for me, a 7 if it exceeds my expectations which are quite low at the moment.
