I am getting ready to go and pick him up during my lunch hour. I will post my thoughts later and get some pictures up later tonight when I get home.

Sounds good Natrix!

I'll probably pick this guy up today. I love this line... Two-Face was the only failure so far I think...

My Justice League awaits...

I agree. I haven't taken him out of the box yet, but he goes look great.

Both head sculpt are awesome but the cut joints really knock the figure down a few points.

Did you do the head sculpts Andy?

Yessir, I did. I'm not crazy about the 'alien' head but I kinda like the standard one. Glad you like 'em!

Hey Andy, I never got around to posting this in your gallery forum - I love the Capt Marvel head you did - Its beautiful and captures the character prefectly! RESPECT!... No, i'm not back... sorry... I shouldn't try...

Got him home and opened it up....not to happy with him. :monkey2

Head/Body:

Legs on mine are very loose at the hips/ankles so his legs flop around and is very hard to get it to stand on it's own. The cut joints really look like crap when they aren't covered by fabric costumes instead of just looking bad under the fabric. The head sculpts are great but could really use some shading/repainting to bring out some details.

Outfit:

Cape is pretty nice but could use some wire in it to pose it a little. Shorts don't really fit that well and if you move the legs they turn into a Speedo. Chest straps and boots are well done, with the boots once again being stitched up in the back...no zippers.

Overall:

I really want to like him and I do but not for the retail price. I keep harping on the cut joints on the body and it really hurts this figures look. DC really needs to update the bodies with Legends style bicep/hip joints and do something with the wrist joints for the price of these things. He will look great on the shelf with the other 13"ers but will have to have a generic static standing pose to look the best.

I'd say that's true for the whole DCD 13" lineup. Way overpriced from the start. I picked up MM today, and will probably have a review up Sunday night.

Andy, you got any pull at DC yet?

Can you give them the suggestion to rework the upper arm swivel at least? They could keep the rest of the body the same so they won't incur massive cost for retooling it.

I picked up the Batman recently because it was discounted ( here in the U.K they are seriously overpriced!) and was really impressed with the quality . I would be tempted by more of the figures if the price was right ( the Aquaman and Shazam are gorgeous ) but come on DCD , why those cut joints??? It's like at the final stage of design a disgruntled employee sabotaged the entire project! ( That display looks SUPERB Grangewallis , by the way !)

You know, I've reviewed, what, three or four of these now? And when did they go with the all hollow body? Did I miss something?

Yep, these are figures with such great potential. But because of a few bad/odd decisions end up being kinda funky.

Why do they have to be:
13" scale?
Cut bicep and thigh joints?
what looks to be little to no paint on MM heads besides the eyes?

Just a few tweaks and they could be pretty awesome... can you swap out the clothes for a different body? Or are they just too big?

WAY too big for another body.

I am pretty sure that they have always been hollow, not much weight to them from what I remember off the top of my head. I will check when I get home tonight.

Not to this degree. Some have cavities depending on the joint designs, but this figure goes well beyond that. He's lighter weight than the light weight dragon or bbi bodies, and much larger in size. When you turn the arm and can see the hollow shoulder, it looks pretty bad. It also doesn't help that the joints are mighty floppy, especially the hips and ankles. Combine it with the light weight, and it feels really cheap.

STILL, FOR THE PRICE, IT IS AN EXCELLENT SERIE OF FIGURES.
