Custom cape

I feel like that cape is a bit too big, but did you do that yourself? It looks pretty awesome! I had plans to do a cloth cape aswell, so this is good inspiration.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

YAY cool cape! *buys* xD
one question here:
it seems the figure still has the neck part of the cape but the cape is made as one piece as far I saw it on other shots. how was it made?

Cutting the plastic layer and leaving the shape of the neck. Then placing the fabric layer and fit the neck leaving the fabric layer below.

It is a user of Instagram ;) metaldriver89. It is very fine but if it is a bit long and misses the peak shape of the layer.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

colors on the cloth cape are right on. just a little too big imo.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Definitely painting the eyes when I get some free time. I think what's really throwing off the sculpt the most is the lack of pronounced "laugh lines", like on the kenner figure. In all the drawings and designs of the character, it was a very specific feature. Without it his face looks more tnba style. Ideally I think he should look more like the maquette dcd did years ago, but I'm still very happy with it, and will end up having at least four of the figure for now.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

That's one feature I love about Figmas and Figuarts besides the detail and articulation are the numerous face swaps. They are perfect for anime.

The only thing is they would have to redesign the neck so it's more easier to make a face that splits in half. That's where the removable cape will factor in well because it can hide a thin neck post if they go the Figuarts route.

It's interesting that Bandai didn't try to do more 6" DC lines. I remember they did the microman series before. I had a few of them :lecture although those were much smaller than 6"

I wonder if DCC said " back off we got the rights " and PAK said " So do we on 10" scale products "

Of course SSC cornered the 1/6 scale of DC characters. Other than a DC film character, I really haven't seen HT do any standard DC comic versions of a character.

However Figuarts will be doing S Vs B movie line :yess:

With how popular this line is turning out. You would think Sideshow would do at least a Batman and maybe robin in the animated form. BTAS preferably. I'd buy them. I'd like to see some pics from Mondo to see where they are going with their 1/6 figs.

Mondo buddy, at first I thought...WTH, but those Eastman and Laird Turtles are off the chain

So We will think that they will handle the BTAS line perfectly.

We are getting at least swappable heads out of it and a ton of accessories

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

exactly my thoughts. The new head looks rather like the TNBA-Batman and at one of the photos showing BTAS-Batz and TNBA-Batz next to each other I could not really see a difference. It looks a little different, but not enough to say "Yup, That's BTAS-Batz"

Hey, you know what would be awesome for DCC figures?
Changeable heads/faces like Bandai and other companies do with their figures.
With that you could easily individualize the figures for your taste and make more awesome action scenes.
I hope DCC will think about it.

Sailor Moon was HOT!
I remember being in love with her and Harley Quinn as a kid. :lol

When I told my girlfriend that I used to be in love Harley and Sailor, she turned to me and said "are you some kinda freak? They're cartoons!"
LMAOOOOOOOO :rotfl

I believe the "laugh lines" are there - sculpted, but the lighting on the photos prevents them from appearing, just like his mouth.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

It is a nice tweak , but don't hate me, I'm not feeling it too much. Maybe it's just me, but I feel without the blue highlights around the neck and head the black against the wider, brighter white is starting to make the sculpt more toyish, too much like Space Ghost and I'm sorry I feel I'm losing the intensity in his face. :dunno

Again mine should be here tomorrow and who knows I might open it up and say " Man those eyes are tiny, I need to mod them ASAP" or I might think " I knew it, these eyes are factory perfect..I can see why they squinted them a little.

These pics are great that everyone has been taking of theirs, modded eyes or not, don't get me wrong, but in my experience when the naked eye sees a figure in hand, the face takes on a whole new level in detail.

I'm thinking of possibly modding, again if I feel it needs it, to use a more off white paint and real subtle shading around the eye, that way it could still make the eyes wider but not so distracting as opposed to using reg white and getting that toyish feel.

Agreed.
As much as, to me, he looks good with the wider eyes too, I still prefer his original "mean" eyes, for the same reason you said. :lecture

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

BTAS Joker

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

LMAO :rotfl

Well, the "one where he shows the teeth like 'grrr'" we're getting with the Phantasm 2-Pack Bats. :lecture
So, that makes 2 heads for Bats already. :wink1:

It'd be cool to have sets of alternate heads for the figures, but I honestly don't see DCC doing it. :(
I can see them making sets of accessories, perhaps. :lecture

No, you got 'em all. :clap

We're supposed to get TNBA Tim Robin on the 28th. And I believe TAS Harley is coming that day too.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Managed to pull his head off after finding a good grip, and using hot water. His cape comes off easy and he is indeed designed just like the other figures in this regard. This makes me hopeful they only skipped out on releasing a second Cape so they could do so with a future alternate btas batman releases, because let's be honest the two pack ain't gonna be the last time. I'm hoping for a completely draped Cape look, and also some of the heads mention a few posts ago. :)

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

picked up The Riddler, The Penguin and Ivy today. Oh and another Robin. Still need Two Face, Mr Freeze and Man-bat.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I was able to get these on eBay so they are on the way! I can't wait for all 3 but think out of the 3 The Riddler looks best! I don't think he needs and work done! Contrats on getting them Battoys12 !

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Companies rarely make accessory packs, certainly nothing like headsculpt packs. People have been begging for something along those lines with Hasbro, Hot Toys, NECA, etc. for years. Why make accessory packs when they can take advantage of an existing figure to sell? Especially with an existing tool like Batman.

It's obvious to me why DCC made the figures "episode specific", that way none of the characters have to be definitive or all inclusive. Look what they did with their Arkham Batman figures. Each Batman came with something unique to that Batman. The Asylum Batman could have came with a Bruce head, a grapple, a batarang, etc. Why offer something definitive when you know people are going to buy every Batman or Joker? It's just like Hasbro's Darth Vader. I think we'll be seeing a ton of variations of animated Batman, all just different enough to make you mad.

Last Laugh Batman w/ gas mask, Heart of Steel Hardac Batman, What is Reality Red virtual Batman, the list goes on. Instead of the 90s gimmicks of suit colors and gears to differentiate the different Batmen, DCC will make wave fillers, exclusives or what have you with a new head sculpt or a new weapon, or new cape. Wouldn't surprise me if we get another Animated Batman with swivel cut boots even since this one was lacking them.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'm comparing the case of this TAS Batman to the case of the Hot Toys Heath Ledger Joker. :lecture

The first one (2008) was absolutely awesome. But HT topped that with every other Ledger Joker released after the first.
How many they've made ever since? 3, 4?
Man, they topped each one in sequence.

DCC will top this Batman, I'm sure.
But, meanwhile, enjoy this one. It's a great Batman, very loyal to the source. :lecture
You can't have a Batman collection without the hero. :wink1:

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

People should jump on Manbat if they want it, appears that Manbat is the only figure sold out on bbts. That should mean something.
