Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I could probably agree that $28 is too high, but, then, I can't say I've ever had a problem with their pricing, personally, as I think I've only paid full price for, like, one, and that was the TNBA Batman sans pegholes. I'm pretty much the only person who buys this line at my LCS, so, I try to take advantage of sales whenever they run them, and, thus far, I've had fairly good luck with the vast majority of the line, getting them anywhere from $12.50 to $23, which I think is more than fair.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Still, that's the MSRP. That's what they think they're worth and what they want them to sell at.

I think a lot of people here are too lenient and forgiving, probably because this is the only offering that is available since DCC is the only game in town. That and they're young adults that grew up with the show and simply owning one of these characters is enough, no matter what it looks or feels like.

I'll stand by what I said, that most of the figures in this line are like getting rough prototypes that need more work done. I was just looking back at things like that ugly Batgirl and that awful looking Bruce Wayne headsculpt from the Batman figure accessory pack and you got to wonder how much time and effort their team is putting into some of these.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I appreciate your comments DiFabio. I don't thinks it's that WE'RE too easy to please; it's that the alternative is simple: not having Bruce Timm styled figures.

Bottom line, if you were offering an action figure line with better quality figures than DCC, I'd be buying from you. So would we all. Competition is what improves the products... And the best would get the business. However, the figures we are discussing are not viable outside a niche market. Mattel had their chance and they blew it. I collected all their DC Licensed, especially the Bruce Timm offerings, and I prefer the DCC over theirs. I mean, the Kenner figures many of collected as children are VERY POORLY DONE, but we love them because they were there when they needed to be.

We could be in a situation of "What you see is what you get", but we are in a much more privileged position as we now have social media to let the company know what's on our mind, and they do listen. They're not paying attention to our rants on this forum, but their Twitter, Facebook and e-mail certainly give them a fair share of feedback they use to keep us satisfied, as costumers (not fellow artists, sculptors, or the like*) AND within their means as a company.

*(Better sculptors than Irene Matar should apply for a job, certainly. Maybe we'd all benefit from that. But until that happens, I will keep on buying what is actually out there for me to buy.)

That's why I see no point in bickering on collector forums; it's just venting frustration over things not coming out the specific way you wanted them to. It's not a tragedy, or the end of the world and it sure as heck sounds like it is by reading some of the posts.

I'm just saying, you get NOTHING out of complaining unless you put your complaints to good use. Either you become proactive in getting the changes you want made, OR you establish yourself as a reputable and objective reviewer/toy critic. Otherwise, criticism posted HERE does nothing but hold all of us - who may be expecting other types of interactions -as bedfellows in misery or as personal psychologists; don't need the former and would charge for the latter. I join here for the news of future releases, the displays, the tips, the pics, the exchange and the collective action towards achieving our common goals as a community. Rants on why a figure is better or worse "to you" do nothing for me. Dissenting opinions don't cancel out one another, and no one will EVER win the debate. As I said before, it's simply a hobby.

Just my two cents.

Oh, absolutely, but I also think there are times where they're right on the money, too. Then again, I feel like even that kind of depends on which part of the line you're looking at, because I think the vast majority of their "solid" figures have been TNBA based. The Batman re-issue is still one of my favorites, and I think most every figure, sans, maybe, Scarecrow has been a solid depiction of their 2D counterpart

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

It feels so wrong that Bane from the Kenner line looks more aesthetically pleasing than the DCC figure. :lol At least DCC painted his nose.

I still can't believe we got Montoya before Alfred or a full Bruce Wayne figure (not counting the BB three pack).

The reissue TNBA Batman is their best hero figure hands down. Pretty flawless in every area I'd say. Same goes for Mad Hatter, Commissioner Gordon (I was wrong about him looking like brown and yellow play doh) and Phantasm.

I agree, to me sound courious that happen only with the DCC stuff.. xDDD
I remember a lot of trash talk about the Mondo Batman TAS prototype but no one got mad or took it personal for that... xDDD LOL

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I sent an email to Dc. I hope they will consider to produce one of these :pregare:

1)Alfred Pennyworth and the bag with the Batman costume or breakfast tray
2)Two-Face from BTAS with Harvey Dent angry as second headsculpt
3)Scarecrow from BTAS
4)King Clok with his time stick
5)Bruce Wayne in his classic civil outfit
6)Boss Rupert Thorne with a bunch of dollars
7)Ronald Dagget with the Daggett cream that used Clayface
8)Grey Phantom
9)Joker remake from BTAS with Joker card and a gun as accessories
10)Red Claw from BTAS
11)Doctor Hugo Strange with the record tape
Obviously waiting the 5 pack release of Montoya ect...
I know it is impossible but in this way we could have a completed collection !
What do u think about this?

In my list Alfred, Scarecrow, Two-Face, Gray Ghost and Strange are a must too :D I cross my finger for single release for each one of them :)
I would like a Bruce Wayne too but only if they change the headsculpt.. look at my avatar xDDD

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

In my experience with DC Direct and DC Collectibles, unlike most other manufacturers, the production samples are generally improvements over the prototypes. Other companies put out some great looking images for solicitation and end up dropping the ball before getting product to retailers. DC's not usually like that.

I'm guessing that the only way DCC could justify getting Montoya to collectors was by adding her to this set with the other four, more popular characters. If DCC drops the boxed set to offer figures individually, we'll probably only get those four figures. That won't bother folks who don't care for Montoya, of course, but it'll disappoint those who do. (Especially since no one seems to be moaning about her sculpt or paint.)

Given the price point, there's a good chance all the figures could be individually carded inside the display box. Montoya's getting her own blister card. The box is clearly far from being finalized. This is digital concept art, not even a photograph of a finished, physical prototype.

After DCC explains their thinking with this set, I think some concerns will be put at rest.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

:yess: But do u think we have hope to collect them one day?

DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Let's not nitpick these figures too much. They are at least 10 months out and are still being worked on.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

And since you gotta do more Batman variations with each wave I'm hoping for the following:

Retro Batman (Robin's Reckoning)

Battle-damaged Batman (with accessory infrared glasses (On Leather Wings), throwing star hand, battle damage across the chest and on his arm, flashlight)

Batman (TNBA) with new headsculpt (lower the mouth on the head) with glider

Batman (black and white) from The Forgotten mine fight

HARDAC Batman (with two alternate headsculpts)

Batman (with removable belt, stray jacket and breathing mask)

Batman (with Batcycle), removable helmet, and ball-hinged torso

Batman (TNBA) with new headsculpt (lower the mouth on the head) with glider

This line has so much life in it:
-Batboat
-Batcycle
-Police Car
-Jack Napier
-Andrea as Phantasm
-Joker (battle damaged - with skyscraper and toy plane)
-Joker (trenchcoat) and Charlie Collins (Joker's Favor two-pack)
-Joker (judge)
-Joker (facial expression set)
-Kyodai Ken (with alternate unmasked headsculpt)
-Sid "the Squid" and Harley wrapped in Jewels two-pack (The Man Who Killed Batman two-pack)
-Two Face (trenchcoat)
-Bruce Wayne (climbing outfit - Perchance to Dream)
-Dr. Hugo Strange
- SWAT Team Member
- Joker's Thug
- BTAS Scarecrow (first mask, second mask, unmasked)

Let's not voice our concerns while there's still time for the production team to make changes.

I feel sorry for Kevin getting all those emails... I'm sure he must have a very busy job as it is but he also have to answer all those "request" from us...

The email should have only been used for quality control in my opinion. They should only be contacted for breakages and such. That was the point.

People abuse it.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I've stopped to email them after Batgirl proto since I had no reply from the pevious suggestion I've sent them way. Probably my english is worst than I thought xDD I wonder what happen if a figure break since I live in Italy xDD I see it pretty difficult they ship me a replacement xDDD Anyway, never had a break. Not even first Catwoman. I've found helpful to use the hair dyer at every figure just after removed them from the box. Result: 0 break in over 20 figures. :)

I don't think people take it personally so much as find it easier to defend. I can defend a figure that's only 28 bucks with a lot of accessories and a few minor issues, colorwise, moreso than I could a product that's going to cost $200, is only twice as big as the $28 figure, and is, essentially, just a blown up version of a figure 1/8th of the price, when, in reality, it should have more in common with Hot Toys than DC Collectibles, for that price.

Again, I'm not defending DCC, I'm just saying I can forgive things on a $28 figure more than I could something that would cost me $200.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I need your help.. anyone know where can I find Batman and Catwoman without peg holes??

I don't see the problem with contacting them with, say, Zelu's photoshops, as I think they could only improve the product. That being said, I think it's one thing for one person to email them with that constructive criticism and numerous people to spam the **** out of them.

But I call bull**** on that email only being used for QC issues. Kevin Kiniry has always been more than gracious, when I've inquired about something, and, frankly, I appreciate that consumers have a direct line with the company, and, if anything, I find that it's only caused my appreciation for DCC to grow. I always found it frustrating the way that Hot Toys would be dead silent about everything, having no communication with customers and leaving us to guess about the status of upcoming products, when items were being released, or, even, yes, constructive criticism.

Same deal with Sideshow. Look at how many people bitched about Beetlejuice (and countless other figures), and look what it accomplished? Maybe these companies just think they're "above it," but, like I said, earlier, when you're charging $200+ for something, you SHOULD be more interactive with your target market. The fact that these figures are nowhere near those prices and are typically associated with being on the lower end of the hobby, yet DCC goes above and beyond to keep customers informed and welcomes their thoughts and opinions is something to be celebrated, when Kevin could easily just send the emails to his junk folder and go about his day.

Like I said, though, I'm with you on the fact that people abuse it, and, sometimes, they just need to chill. I get the "will of the people" mentality, but wait until the first person gets a response. If it's good, then you're in business, if not, then let others make it known that they believe it could be better, as well.
