Personally, I'm not a crazy over The Killing Joke like most people because it hinges on shock value and there's not much to the story anyway (no, Batman did not kill the Joker in the end, stop speculating!). I thought the story was okay when I first read it, and would never have guessed it would be so popular. Even Alan Moore isn't too fond of it in retrospective.

The Killing Joke?

I'd be perfectly happy never seeing another The Killing Joke or Dark Knight Returns reference in a DC film. Enough already.

That's not what I mean, tho it's 100% true for modern remakes.
And Disney Wars are a semi-reboot of kind... Well, damn! :lol

I mean it's about cashing in on the most popular/bestsellin stuff from the franchise. That way you save time because basic work is already done, it's a safe bet that people will respond to it, and you can add irrelewent social/political stuff to grab extra attention.

DC needs a shocker of a film that will get attention at this point. They really got shown the door with BP blowing the socks off of JL....they need to start taking BIG chances to woo the audience back

Wonder Woman gained a lot of attention but that obviously wasn't enough. They really need a huge stand out but in the current comic book movie climate AND with the reception of the universe they have attempted to build that would be insanely difficult.

As someone who actually has enjoyed these newer DC movies I still think they just need to straight up reboot again. I can't see Aquaman being great, and this Joker movie (despite being it's own thing) is a bad idea.

I like TKJ, but what's the point? Do something new or use a different story.

It bums me out that DC and the fanbase are treating TKJ and TDKR as the only good Batman stories ever told. Why is there a need to "adapt" comic book stories anyway? 99% of the episodes in BTAS and the JL cartoon were original stories. Is it because it's much easier to half ass and adaptation with blatant fanservice because fans are happy enough that a scene from their beloved comic book made it to the movie? Does it give validity to their love of funny books or something?

no
not at all

when they dont adapt comics we get stuff like batman v superman and stuff like justice league,
do you want more of that?

But it seems like all they do is adapt the dark knight returns. It’s ****ing annoying . Such an overrated book.

I always thought Batman: Noël would be a good book to adapt for a Batfleck solo movie.

What joker origin story can they adapt?

They don’t need to adapt one. Joker has always been a mystery. It’s better to have him show up like in the dark knight and leave it up to speculation
