A JLA movie is an easier sell IMHO than an Avengers movie was, people are more accustomed to the idea of them thanks to cartoons and comics over the past few years.

WB just has to get their ducks in a row with serious filmmakers that are going to want this to succeed. One of the things with Nolan, love him or hate him, the Batman films feel like Nolan films. Green Lantern didn't feel like a Martin Campbell film, it felt like Martin Campbell attempting to do a superhero film, trying to channel the spirit of Jon Favreau. They need more directors and writers who are going to treat these characters as they would with any other project and putting that slant/spin/stamp on them instead of trying to replicate what the box office is giving.

I agree 100%. That's why I feel that Nolan's Batman wouldn't fit into a JLA movie. Bale as Batman doesn't seem like the same Batman from the comics and in the JLA. They need the master strategist, martial arts master Batman. Kind of like how Hawkeye and BW were in the Avengers, sure they were 'normal' humans, but they did super-heroic stuff like jumping off of buildings, flying on the alien glider thing, etc.

It really did seem like they tried to copy the Iron Man formula with GL, with Walker making an appearance. Too bad GL was such a mediocre movie with no redeeming values, unlike Iron Man.

As for MoS, is the Snyder version specifically its own movie? Or is the guy playing Superman possibly contracted for more movies? That was another smart thing I felt Marvel did, was nailing all these guys down for long term, multiple film deals. Sure some cast changes have occurred, but the main characters will be around for a while.

Nolan originally said it'd be a standalone vacuum film. Snyder said it was be Superman focused and not feature any ties to any other characters but wouldn't say that his Superman couldn't co-exist. Non one really knows for sure what will happen but I wouldn't look for a "Nick Furyseque" kind of cameo in MoS. I have a feeling that Superman will be a standalone that could fit into other characters but won't actually feature any other ones.

GL was such a massive misstep. If done right it could've been the next Star Wars with all of the weird aliens and strange planets they could have featured. Instead they spent a few minutes in space and brought GL back to boring Earth so he could fight the Elephant Man and a ____ing cloud. They really ____ the bed on that one.

yeah, the whole time I was watching i kept thinking.... this could have been so much better, the matchbox car is the scene I was like "i give up on this"
it could have been really cool

Are there plans for a GL part 2 despite the failure of the movie? They might deliver come Part 2. :dunno

WB said yes for about six months after it but then dummy'd up about it since. Reynolds and Lively are both doing projects that'd have the film at minimum delayed another year before filming if not two. Their contracts for the sequel clause expire in 2016. If they are doing a sequel with that base cast they are cutting it close.

I say they pull an Incredible Hulk, just recast the whole thing and try again. Would anybody really be sorry to see Reynolds go? I know I wouldn't.

I wouldn't be surprised if a reboot is hinging on the success of Deadpool. If Deadpool winds up being a box office smash I can see them pulling Reynolds in for a sequel for name recognition (and hopefully a less convoluted script).

I think if the sequel is well written, DC could use it to jump start a JL movie. GL wasn't the greatest superhero movie but I don't think it was the worst as others make it out to be.

I also wonder why WB hesitates on Wonder Woman hitting the cinemas. Aside from comic book enthusiasts, they will get fans of whoever is starring as Wonder Woman to watch the film, and many more, lol!

Her stand-alone movie can also jumpstart a JLA movie, with the assumption that we all know Supes' & Bats' origin.

Joss Whedon had a movie ready to go. Colby Smulders was set to star. Whoever failed to greenlight that one should lose their job.

I think going to Nolan to oversee development of a JLA film would be lazy on the part of WB. They have Dini and Timm. How many great ideas could they re-vamp from the collected Animated Series? Justice Lords. Thanagarian invasion. New Gods. Luthor/Brainiac. The list goes on.
