What I love about the New 52 is for the most part (not all of it) it has gone back to storytelling instead of gimmicks.

This is what i'm loving. It seems to be simple little stories, of im assuming about 4-issue story arcs, as opposed to big events etc. I've never been a regular comic reader, just read random graphic novels or TPB's because it seemed like there was always some big even going on that i'd be lost with (this is my problem with trying to read x-men for a while now). But these have been so easy to just pick up and read.

Finally got around to Suicide Squad #3. What an absolute train wreck. This issue went completely against the tone set in the first issue where the squad was tortured in an effort to get one of them to acknowledge the existence of the Squad. In #3...

They're all like "Hellos random strangers with guns, did Waller send you? Oh yeah, Waller is the name of the person in charge of our super secret government sponsored operation here.

It was like I was suddenly reading a different title with an entirely different writer. On top of that, I'm not a fan of the "let's show you something crazy right off the bat and then go back couple hours/days to show you how we got there" style of storytelling.

I really liked issues #1 and #2, so I hope they turn it around.

I'm collecting Justice League, International Justice League, and Flash. I'll see how long they hold my interest. I hate that they dumped my favourite DC title (Batman and Robin-- I know it's still there but not with ____ Grayson in the cowl and I was really digging the stories, artwork, and writing... Oh well.).

Thanks Devil. Will have to check them out.:hi5: I've heard The Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul gets pretty slated. Is it that bad?

It's part of the RIP storyline, but also a continuation of the other two. I haven't read it in a few years. I think it had more to do with Tim Drake than Batman.

Hmm, I never read the RIP storyline. Always thought I'd give it a shot if I had nothing else to read but it didn't really intrigue me too much. But I'm a big fan of Tim Drake, so that kind of makes me want to read it. I'll try and pick up Death and the Maidens and maybe Year One or Birth of the Demon, then see if I can find Ressurection for cheap somewhere. Give it a shot.

Really like this reboot. War of Light was terrific IMO and now this reboot is really making it difficult to ignore pretty much any new release. cat woman is so so but almost everything else is top drawer stuff. Special mention of Gl Lantern Guardians, Green Lantern, and Justice League. Fantastic reboots IMO

Just finished reading Nightwing #3. At the end it says "next issue: Batgirl." Is this supposed to mean the story will continue in Batgirl, or just that she might have some involvement in the next issue? I dont read Batgirl, so dont know what's been going on in that.

Nightwing showed up in Batgirl #3. The whole issue is an exposition on Babs' and Grayson's past relationship. I don't see it as a must-read for Nightwing fans, but it's a good story, and even though it's part 3 of Batgirl's current arc, it stands alone pretty well.

And yes, Batgirl will be guesting in Nightwing #4.

Hmm, so maybe the "next issue: batgirl" thing just meant that batgirl will be in nightwing #4. My list of titles seems to keep growing, didnt want to end up adding batgirl to the list as well. haha.

Also, just read Catwoman #3 and Batman #3. Enjoying Catwoman, glad i gave it a chance after i know a lot of people werent impressed with it. And im loving Batman. At first i preferred Detective Comics, but i'm actually enjoying Batman more now, loving the whole conspiracy thing with the council of owls. Love it.

Caught up in Detective, and Animal Man. Still great, but Detective #3 felt a little weaker this month. Catwoman's okay, getting better.

All Star Western is fantastic. Picked up all three issues of it, as well as I, Vampire.

I, Vampire is a decent book. I think the covers are pretty weak. They don't mirror the internal art at all.

So far I've got

Justice League 1-3
Detective Comics 1-3
Batman & Robin 1-3
Green Lantern 1-3
Batman 1-3
Catwoman 1-3
Nightwing 1-3
Batman TDK 1-3
Flash 1 & 2
Superman 1 & 2
Action Comics 1-3

The ones in bold are the ones I've got round to reading so far :slap

So far I feel Superman represents the best value for money (it takes ages to finish 1 comic) although I'm probably enjoying Green Lantern the most. I've given up getting Action Comics.

Really need to start reading the others but I wanted to build up a collection rather than getting engrossed in the story and having to wait a month for the next chapter.

Just read Batman #3
I have to say I wasn't really feeling the love for the whole 'Court of Owls' thing - until now that is! The last part of the story actually gave me chills. Seems like they really did their homework with owl research and it's relevance to the story was put to some very good use.
The beginning of the story with the interrogation/intimidation tactics was great also!
Best issue so far for me.

Glad you enjoyed dude. I loved Batman #3. Probably my favourite Bat-title issue so far. The scenes where Batman was finding all the hidden rooms etc was really kind of...haunting, in a way. And the whole first few pages, with Alan Wayne running around like a paranoid loon, and then Batman's interrogation of the gang in the subway. I just think the whole story has had a great feel to it. I'm really loving the story here, more so than Detective at the minute. That said, still looking forward issue #4 of Detective tomorrow. Along with Swamp Thing and Action Comics.

Yeah I really did enjoy it a lot actually! More than I was expecting to.
The hidden rooms thing was genius - and what made it so much more chilling was how it referenced actual owl-facts that tied directly in to what was happening, allowing the reader to work out what was going on at the same time as Batman.
If the next issues continue like this one then I'll definitely be leaning more towards this title as my favourite over Detective.
Now I need to re-read from issue #1 again!
