Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

Joker's a bit too "punk rock" for me, at the moment. Bane looks pretty cool, though. The figure makes it look like he has war paint in this one, rather than a mask, though.

Joker should look like a glam rock star i always thought David Bowie would have made an awesome Joker.

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

Gotta agree, I don't really see these as early Arkham designs for Bane and Joker. Joker does look like a punk rocker. More of a Ledger vibe than the comic version AA and AC had. And Bane looks like the Comedian on roids. Looks like he even has a gun on his hip. That's definitely not the AA/AC Bane either.

Kind odd they'd release new character/design reveals through the toys rather than though a trailer or something first. Penguin and Deathstroke would have made more sense because they've already been revealed. Or even Deadshot for that matter. We knew Joker would be in it, but not Bane.

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

Well, he really looked like a punk rocker when I first saw him. The resolution on the pics wasn't so great, and the color of his shirt matched his neck, so I thought he was wearing the vest without a shirt on underneath.:lol

I'm glad you pointed out that he IS wearing a shirt, I also thought he was only wearing the vest. I like that design a lot more now I realise that.

But didn't Bane only get massive during AA? So in a prequel he should still be skinny..... and they're drawing on TDKR design too much, I feel.

Anyway, I'll probably get all these for a separate AO display, which means that I still need an AC Black Mask, and Two Face.

Batman looks ok, makes sense he needs more protection early on.

Love the way Deathstroke, Deadshot and Black Mask look in game. Black Mask's suit translated very poorly to the figure though.

Joker I don't hate but I don't like the white shirt under the vest, the color pallet they chose is terrible.

Bane I hate. He's straightup a Crossbones ripoff from Marvel.

Here we can see more big..

P.S. Bane in a regular series. Yet people currently have another Bane from them on P.O. at a deluxe price point.

:clap That's for you DC Direct, you sure know how to milk those dumb fanboys.

Yep - anyone who has been awaiting a deluxe AA/AC Bane for months, or just prefers the MUCH, MUCH larger and bulkier and heavier and more-expensive-to-produce AC design over the Origins one is definitely a 'dumb fanboy'. What a gloriously intelligent comment you've made there.

Plus the AC Bane comes with Batman for £50. Take off the £15ish for the Batman, and Bane costs £35 - about £15 more than the MUCH SMALLER AND COMPLETELY DIFFERENTLY DESIGNED AO Bane. The figures are barely comparable aside from the name. AO Bane is a slightly taller regular figure. AC Bane is a beast of a figure. Not to mention that the Origins Bane is going to be released around the time of the game, and is therefore more likely to sell. AA/AC Bane is from a game released a year and a half ago, where he wasn't even a major character, making it more of a risk to release him. And, y'know....people can always cancel their preorders if they want, so nobody is ripping anyone off.

Personally I'll get both. Because I want both. And they're not comparable figures. At all.

But then again, I'm just a dumb fanboy who's too stupid to decide what to spend his money on and am so unaware of everything that I continually allow myself to be ripped-off by every company ever because I'm such a ****ing moron.

I apologise, you're buying Batman toys so you're clearly a genius. :lecture

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

Wow! I actually really like them! This looks like a really solid first wave to me! Didn't expect to get such major characters as the last 2, given we already have THE main 2 as the first conifirmed for the wave!
This is great though! I agree jokers shirt could be better coloured maybe a pale blue or even brown wouldn't look to bad,
But I do love the design though, the younger look translated quite well I think :)

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

I think Einstein collected Dr. Who figures.

I just spend all my money on booze and hookers. and of course to fund terrorism.

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

I haven't cared much for either but at least both gave him his mask unlike Nolan. This new one looks like they drew from the Nolan design with all the harnesses and straps.

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

Not liking either of these...

It's not that the figures were executed badly like Black Mask, I just don't care for the designs.

They look like an unholy mash up of the Rocksteady Arkham games and the Nolan Trilogy. Batman, Black Mask, Deadshot, Deathstroke, and Penguin seemed to fit in really well. Bane and Joker... Not so much. Bane doesn't looks like he could be from the same universe, Joker just is dressed really oddly. It's mostly that white shirt that looks bad.

I'm not hating on them, but I'm not liking them. Not sure if I want to get Arkham Origins right away looking at these two design choices.

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

I love the designs of these two characters, while I do believe they could've picked a better shirt for Joker. Bane is, in my opinion, almost perfect, I still need to a see a close up of his face before I'm completely sold on it.
Also to the people who are saying Bane's look is a a terrible Nolan rip-off, I counter by saying this. In an interview, the creators of the game said that this Bane is based on the "Vengence of Bane" design of him, but lets really look at that design shall we. While the classic look of Bane is fantastic, it seems too plain to be the design of the video game counterpart, and frankly outside of Bane's sheer size and mask there is nothing intimidating about him. With this design I see it as Bane wearing practical clothes/armor that can hold up in his assassin/mastermind occupation. His comic book clothes look too easily tearable and gives Batman ample places to strike, if Bane allowed him to that is :p. So in conclusion, I feel that this design is well made and practical for the character.
And for him not looking like his AA/AC counterpart, well since this game takes place about five years before AA, confirmed by creators, Bane would have plenty of opportunity to fall victem to his Venom addictiton and thus give him reason to create the storage tank he wears on his back in AA.

Nah, its much closer to the Comedian. But with the Gimp mask.

Bane was on TITAN, not Venom in AA/AC. So he was much BIGGER then. He's just on venom here, so a regular (a big regular) is just fine. Considering what the original AA Bane goes for, the new deluxe is a steal anyway.

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

I don't have complains on anyone at all, I think they're perfect and the designs are very interesting.

Except for Bane, he does look like Crossbones... Very uninteresting.

Sor far, getting the Joker and Batman, they're just so right, specially the joker.

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

I'm in for this whole. but I do find that they look more realistic, while the asylum and city games were more surreal looking with cartoonish proportions.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct

Just saw this on Figures.com, apparently you can also fit Penguin's cigar into his mouth too. Didn't know that! Nice little touch there :)

Can you actually attach the cigar in his mouth or is it just in this photo?
Cuz so many people say you can't!

Re: DC Collectibles - Batman: Arkham figure series (Origins,Asylum,City)

Not a figure, but did any of you see the Arkham Origins Black & White Statue? I actually think I like his face better here than on the AC statue:
