Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

Catwoman looks great in every photo to me, really can't wait to get her. I'm sure if someone stood her side by side with Mattel's version DCD's would look far superior.
You could lay a dead cat next to Mattel's version and it'd look better. Probably. :D

I knew he wouldn't be coming with those glasses when they never showed him with them. Its just pure laziness on their part and unacceptable. At the prices they are charging us, there is ZERO reason why he souldn't have his glasses. They were a key part of his look as he had them instead of his usual mask.
I think if they'd attempted to give Riddler glasses it could've gone badly wrong. They're quite subtle in the game, and they might've tried to give him them and it ruined the figure. And also I think the prices are good enough for what you get, I don't feel like I'm being ripped off just because he doesn't have glasses. The prices of the regular figures are pretty fair, IMO. Mad Hatter aside.

Also seeing the Riddler in packaging makes me realise how close to release he is. Probably my most anticipated figure, above even Mr. Freeze.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

The glasses would have been removable, so they wouldn't have ruined the figure at all. They ruined him by not including them :lol

And I have to say Mattel's Catwoman looks better in the face than DCD's. DCD's had some serious botox or something going on with her lips and that is just wrong. Mattel's actually looks like what she did in the game. The lips just throw the DCD sculpt off.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

Maybe they tried to give the Riddler glasses, but it just didn't look right. They'd either have to sculpt them on to the face, or make them a separate accessory.

I'm thinking that if they had made them separate they'd be too big and wouldn't look right. It sucks, but it doesn't kill the figure for me.

Is Hatter's hat removable? It looks like it in these latest pics. Can't wait for series 2!

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

Yeah, the Hatter's hat is removable. We saw pics of it near the feet of another figure from Toy Fair.

I'd rather them have included crappy looking glasses than no glasses at all. At least give us the choice of saying its crap rather than no choice at all.

Or maybe glasses would have put the Riddler into the "deluxe" category so they decided not too

And where's our riddler trophies? That should have been another thing included with him.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

Removable glasses could've worked. They could have made them magnets, like they do in many lines, like Palisades old Muppet figures. And I'm with you on the Riddler trophy, it's a real shame we didn't get it. Perhaps it could be a future Batman variant accessory? Though I think there's still plenty items in Batman's own arsenal to have all the variants covered.

Also, I'd quite like to see someone repaint Detective Batman with a skin coloured mouth, just to see what it's like.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

Really, wit the amount of trophies in the game, they should have included one with every figure. We might get 10% of what was in the game then :lol

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

Riddler trophies would've been cool, at least one. Don't know if I'd like 20 of 'em lying around my display though.

As for the glasses, have we ever heard why they didn't include them? I know they did some for Gordon from the Hush line, so it is possible. I'm thinking of making me own, probably out of a thin piece of copper or something. Shouldn't be too hard.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

They have purple lenses so its not as easy as just leaving them empty like normal glasses.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

anybody else notice Freeze is wearing the glass cover over his face, and it's real clear. Originaly it was frosted so they displayed it on the side so you can see his head-sculpt. wonder what the production piece will look like, frosted or clear?

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

Hopefully we get both with what they're charging for him :lol

It wasn't realy frosted in the game though it was more steamy actually.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

maybe he got steamy around catwomen

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

So ForbiddenPlanet.com is listing wave 2 as being released 30th May. It was 29th April yesterday. :(

Not happy.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

I saw the Mattel AC "black and white" 2-pack of Catwoman and Bats yesturday at TRU and I have to say that I really liked how those came out. the sculpt on Batman looks better than the one AA DCD one as well as Catwoman. but for consistency sake, I'm keeping with the DCD stuff. with a repaint, I'm sure the DCD one can look pretty good

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

They are actually in scale with DCD, which was a great move on mattel's part. I own the black and white set and think its great other than Batman's cape being black. I wish they were more white like the promo art, but it gets the point across. Would have been great exclusive/variants for DCD to make for the main characters in this line.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

I havent seen these, any pics guys?

oh yea I like the Mattel stuff, but they have more visible joints than the DCD ones that's what I mean by consistency. You can tell they're not made the same. I'm not against visible joints but you but them next to the DCD one's and you can tell they're different which is what bugs me.

I'm thinking thats right. They were on my comic shopper app as next Wed on Monday but they are gone now. Shame they can't update us on stuff like that more than a week out.

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

Maybe they're making last minute touches (i.e putting in the Riddler's glasses) ;)

Re: Batman: Arkham City - DC Direct - Series 1 action figures

:lol That'll be the day. Very rarely does DCD actually meet their original release date with figures. I'm still shocked the first series didn't get pushed back at all.
