DDiV's Custom Wolverine PF

Before I show the photos, know that I have never done a custom anything, other than my own Wolverine claws on the dio. Will came up for a concert, and for some reason, it occurred to him that he wanted me to try and do some customizations to a Wolvie PF that was damaged. Since it was damaged, he figured WTH, and for me to have fun with it. He gave me a couple of ideas and told me to run with it....

The first thing I did was fix his stance...I really didn't like the way he leans forward so much...looks like he's about to fall over:

Will wanted the pants done with a more modern flare so I followed his advice on those. I wanted to do something else with the jacket, like give it a more euro-motorcycle-esque feel, but I couldn't bring myself to cut the collar off of the jacket. Instead I went with a darker, more realistic leather look. I repaired the claws and gave them a little gore. I changed the belt buckle to something a little less.....neck. Finally I gave the boots a more upscale black finish, to go with the new 'modern' Wolverine. Will didn't like the red on the base, so I scaled it back by replacing the red with a little Titanium color. I think it mutes it down a good bit, and allows the focus to remain on Wolvie.

I REALLY like the improvement overall. The jeans and jacket "upgrades" especially look good. The only thing I don't care for much is the blood on the claws, but other than that job well done Computerfly! :chew And you fixed the "leaning" look which is the one thing that bothers me most about mine! And congrats to Will too!

I personally really like the blood on the claws! Gives it a true sense of realism. I mean, the blades are coming out of his knuckles for crying out loud!!!! I think the blood around the knuckles and on the blade make it more realistic as to what happens when the fury is unleashed from under Logan's skin I'm used to seeing Wolverine in the classiv X-men/ comic version and he has the claws coming out from some little ports on TOP of his hands, not from between his knuckles. So to me, the blood in the knuckles and on the blade, TWO thumbs up

Honestly, I just don't care for that look. It's just not my thing, where as other people may really like that look because of Wolverine's fighting nature. It's really just a personal preference.

But that in no way takes away from it because your other improvements are really amazing. I'm mean, I'd take it. That last comparison shot really shows that. I was just looking at it again. The fact that you straightened the posture I'd say is my favorite improvement. But I also like that you "darkened" the overall theme (ie darker jeans, jacket, and base.)

And Computer, wasn't the "weathered/battledamaged" Doom PF you work as well? (I noticed you said it was your first custom though?)

Chris, I'm with you brother. I much prefer the 'ports' on the back of his hands to the 'through the knuckles' look. But since that's what this is, I wanted to go for realism. If you've ever sliced your hand, you know it bleeds like a ...... and first thing you do is curl your fist. If you remember that day, you remember blood was seeping between your fingers.

With Wovie, I figured he has a healing factor, but it still going to hurt and bleed for a few seconds...and these aren't small wounds by any means. So I filled in around the openings and in between the fingers.

I didn't do the work on Doom.

Now don't get me wrong ComputerFly. It looks great and if Sideshow produced both, I'd go with this one just because its such a big improvement. I'm not trying to be the "downer" of the bunch, just being honest. That's amazing work and no one can deny that.

The way you did the blood application looks perfect in my opinion, in terms of placement. Your post earlier makes perfect sense (ie cutting his knuckles when using the claws, etc.) So I understand why because of the realism. I just don't care for any blood in general is my point, so you could be Pablo Viggiano and I'd still say the same thing.
