Ok well I just said F EB and went to CC. I got the game and a $10 giftcard. Take that douchey EB. That means I got KOTCS for $20.00. EB said that their shipment is lost. Go figure. Everytime I try to buy something with them something is wrong.

Ok ok, so what are you fighting in this game? Aliens, zombies, etc?

I did not watch the comics, but they are or they were human. And as said they have been possessed or changed into these beings...which I mean you can call them aliens as I mean that is what they are....they are alien.

BTW the proper name that the developers call them are Necromorphs.

The comic said something like they only want to go after necrotic, or dead, tissue at first. but i guess when everybody's dead, they go after alive tissue.

I picked up the comics, not sure what to expect but there is more story to it than expected....

Lots of dialogue and religious overtones - it did get me intrigued more. Dead Space is still a rental for me, though

Picked it up at noon, won't be able to play it until evening.

I bought Dead Space mostly because I wanted to play a horror game that wasn't a sequel to an existing franchise. It also helps that Dead Space has received good reviews, something that the last horror game I played did not achieve (Silent Hill: Homecoming, which disappointed me a bit).

It's also nice to receive the art book. Pretty snazzy.

So far it seems that the 15-20 hour campaign is true. I have 2 hours of play time and I am still on Chapter 2. Also I started the game on hard because that way I can get the achievement and then when I do a 2nd play through I can still have all my armor and upgrades.

That's what bothered me a little bit. I didn't quite like the religious zealot-like overtones that the comic had. I'm sure it's a good story, but I've seen a lot of religious stories like this before, thought it was going to be something a little bit different.

I've heard that the 15-20 hour campaign is attributed to the amount of backtracking you have to do. I hope that's not the case - I hate backtracking.

Ignore that, you have to beat the game on IMPOSSIBLE to get the 150 pt. achievement. But first you have to beat the game on hard or I think normal to unlock impossible.....eh I don't think I want to try impossible. I think I'll restart on normal, I am not that far in.

That ^^^^ is confusing.

Let me first start off by saying this game delivers! :rock It is refreshing to buy a game and feel like I got the full $59.99. Unlike some of the newer games. That is fall season for you. The developers show us what they have been working on. I also started on medium and have been playing about 2 hours and am still on chapter two. I would recommend this to anyone.

i got this game during my lunch break and reading you guys' post has gotten me pretty pumped on playing it.....hell, only 2 more hours till i'm off work!!! :rock

Give us your review when done. In fairness to Silent Hill, it received three bad reviews and a bunch of 80-85% type ones too - two of the bad ones came from OXM (which scored both Dead Space and SH: Homecoming with a 6.5 ironically) and IGN; despite them, it is a pretty darn good game, IMO. It is a Silent Hill game in every way that matters, despite the new AI, improved Combat ability and graphics, it does not reinvent that wheel - you still get weird puzzles, some cool characters with deep, deep issues that you have to discover, etc...if you like that kinda game, it will not disappoint. To me the Monsters were awesome and you get 4 boss battles - the most of any SH title....

SH:H is a good game, don't get me wrong, but after I finished it I felt like I was just tired of Silent Hill in general. I played the original back when it first came out up to this latest installment and maybe I found it disappointing because it didn't reinvent any wheels. It offered changes, sure, but they were small, tentative steps that didn't change SH in ways I felt were significant (made combat fairly easy but still not much fun).

The SH design needs a dramatic shift in the way RE4 changed the RE franchise as a whole. Now, I don't want SH to become an horror action game like RE4, but the formula as it is now is pretty stale. The story isn't going anywhere either. After SH 3, each successive Silent Hill game has been a prequel or a side story that, while giving us little hints and clues as to the true nature and history of the town, doesn't do much at all to progress the story.

Ok, enough about SH from me, this thread is about Dead Space. it's new and It's an original IP which I'm very excited to try. Actually, I'm going to start playing it now - I just got home.

Fair points on SH Plasmid - since you just played Homecoming, I'll be curious as your take on Dead Space....have fun with the game!

Not sure if everyone is aware, but tha animated versions of the Dead Space comics are not the entire comic - issue 1 had an extra couple of scenes in the printed version that the animated version edited out - and it seemed pretty darned important to me, so be aware of that to!

OH MY GOD, I love this ^^^^ing game!!! :rock

The eerie atmosphere and music, the creepy ass aliens, all of it!

I just killed one of those things and I was able to sever its head after it was dead!! :horror :rock

really? i haven't played enough to score it yet but i'm loving it so far and can't understand that score. :rock

Dead Space shipped today from EAstore.com! I really want it to get here before the weekend but most likely it won't and I won't have time anyway due to me selling work at the local comic con.

Hopefully I can play it this weekend. I don't have extra money, but I'll be going home for fall break and I'm sure my brother will get it.

Really it's funny. The only scary games I've played were Doom 3 and Resident Evil 2 on gamecube-(that freaked me out). I'm excited.

I wonder if the PC version will have any mod tools, I know EA was wanting to put the game engine up for other games so maybe it will. That'd be cool, it looks great.
