It's nice to know Kojima and Del Toro still get to work on a project together.

Still interested in this.

But boy does Kojima want to direct a movie BAD.

He certainly does, both he and David Cage.

Mads Mikkelsen, Guillermo Del Toro and Kojima together at last? Well I'm in. It helps that the art direction in this so far is astounding.

I wont deny the art direction is amazing, but I've grown tired of cannes film festival teases from Kojima.

I have some decent interest in this game. It's the first game he's making since 1998 that isn't out of obligation so if it sucks then he has no excuse.

Yep.

A Japanese guy wants to move to Hollywood.

I'm happy for him to just steal their actors, honestly. I know people weren't hugely thrilled with Keifer Sutherland's Venom Snake being mumbling and monosyllabic, but I can appreciate the need for real actors at this stage. Game graphics are getting to the kind of level that less than a decade ago you'd have only assumed were possible for movie CGI effects There's now simply too much there to just get away with animating the eyes and lips and hiring a voice actor, you need people who can display a subtle range of emotions for a story-driven game.

Thankfully Reedus, as much as I can take or leave him, tends to be a little more animated than Sutherland, and Mikkelsen is an astounding actor - so I imagine it'll actually be worth it this time around.

I'm also quite happy to see Del Totoro involved, the poor man's had so many film projects fall through recently - and at least two video game projects, including Silent Hills, that I think he deserves to be involved in a big project like this. Hopefully if he's working with Kojima in a serious capacity he can bring a little more humanity to the project than we saw in MGSV.

Honestly if this turns out to be good, I think it's all due to Del Toro. But in the end, I still hate actors being in games since it's just too much of a distraction, for me anyway.

Del Toro posted **** Konami and Viva Kojima on his twitter.
What little respect I had for the guy post "Pacific Rim Jobs" is now gone.

Well he's got to appease the Brojima Lives Matter protesters. Amazes me we still really don't know anything about that whole thing aside from speculation, and childish slams on social media.

On that note, Dylan brings up a really good point. If this game is bad, it could almost change the views people have on Konami and Kojima, and MGS V. Problem is that people believe Kojima can do no wrong. I still don't get why of all developers he gets that...

The main thing...is how the hell is this going to play? :cuckoo: I don't even know that much!

Well let's give credit where credit is due. MGS on PSone set the stage and single player games are still following the model. I think Kojima is pretty good at making games and deserves that respect but he's like James Cameron. Everyone refuses to see some of his works as misses just because they like the others so much and it's made worse by most of his misses being in one of the most beloved series in gaming so people are even less likely to except the truth. MGSV killed the series, That's his fault no matter what people say. He had more resources, money, time and spotlight than 99% of games and he produced a product that was incomplete and without coherent thought. He perpetuated gaming stereo types, blatantly lied during marketing and fell off the face of the earth when times got tough. You can blame Konami all you want but if the next game doesn't live up to the hype then there is no excuse.

Personally I cant stand Norman Reedus. I dont rate him much as an actor. Mads on the other hand is utterly brilliant. This to me reminds me abit of MGS 4. I really dont know why. Maybe its the tenticle think Kojima is utterly obsessed with.

Either way, Kojima hasnt made a great game since 2004 yet All I see everywhere is how godly Kojima is, how its an instant masterpiece because everything Kojima does is perfect. Im happily hesitant. CGI trailer which may or may not have zero to do with game, giving me zero story or gameplay does not excite me in the slightest. After being burned by MGSV im very cautious and I dont buy it being all Konami either.

The other thing, am I the only one who hates hollywood actors in games? To me it detracts from the character. I mean , like Silent Hills; I wouldnt be playing as James Sutherland/Harry Mason/Alex Shepherd, Im playing as Norman Reedus acting as the character. Same with Mads; amazing as he is i would be fighting Mads Mikkelson not the character he is playing. Same with MGS V; It was Sutherland, Jack Bauers voice for Big Boss and it took immersion out for me.

Kinda like Troy Baker being almost everyone lol.

I'm a huge fan of Silent Hill and I always loved the protagonists are your average Joes. As much as I love P.T as it's own entity, it would have ruined Silent Hill in terms of what the original games were trying to accomplish. Silent Hill was always subtle, and you say "subtle" to Kojima and he asks, "What's that?"

Guys like Nolan North and Troy Baker are real actors. They don't need their names slapped on the cover of videogames or movies because they blend into whatever roles they're given. I can't stand celebs taking voiceover roles, let alone facial likenesses since it takes you out of the experience. Did anyone care Nolan North was Nathan Drake or Baker was Joel? Nope. And that's the point of creating characters, you don't want the actor to overshadow the character.

Can't agree more. While it seem true that Konami was creating a stressful environment for the team, the grand plan of MGSV seems doomed at the point of conception. There's little in terms of compelling narrative or an imaginative open world, but instead (and for a lack of a better word) lots of BS, including FALSE ADVERTISING, which no fan seems to call out Kojima for. There was no personality, no moving character development, no big twists or awesome set pieces, no good music. It was just bland, and that has nothing to do with Konami.

Lets pretend that Konami did cut the "measly" 80mil budget, then why was Kojima consistently, falsely promoting the game on Twitter as being more than it is? This is why I'd wait for the reviews on this.

He's had complete control over his games, for over a decade now under Konami... and then all of a sudden they're the *******s. But in the end, anything we say is redundant since it will get eaten up no matter how good or bad it is since he made Snake Eater, which is what most people associate him with.

He's a lot like Spielberg, where he used to make compelling things in his early career and now they just want their egos stroked.

Don't like actors either. The first time I can recall a good chunk of Hollywood in a game was Beyond: Two Souls, and the game was terrible. A lot of it was because David Cage stinks though.

Silent Hills was going to be a straight horror game, and not have the level of psychological subtle elements that Team Silent was famous for.

The promotion was definitely bogus. I'm actually going to refrain from even bothering with talking on social media about it anymore, since it's the same uber Kojima Scientologist fans that need to worship it without having one iota of a coherent rebuttal that makes any sense.

Always nice to see that sounds of reasons are spoken (typed) in this section unlike how it is in youtube comments.

Celebrity endorsement has minimal to no effect on me, so the 4 minutes-ish tease trailer did not present anything new.. no game play, no story, no real value for me to be emotionally invested in the game (or is it "art" now, not sure of the medium Kojima categorized his work).

This really shows how bat**** crazy Kojima is without the safety net of MGS to land in. I love Mads, can't stand Reedus, but this looks ****ing crazy. In a bad way. I mean, Guillermo Del Toro is in the game.
