detolfs:
Someone on another board bought rods that are threaded from top to bottom and replaced the existing ones making the shelves adjustable. Since the manufacturer's are just rods that are held together with a nut at the top and bottom it's just a matter of finding those threaded rods.

Has anybody tried putting some sort of background picture in their Detolf? I love them but somehow I don't like looking at the wall behind the figure.

I guess I'll try it myself, the problem is finding some sort of graphic that I could print that size.

I too didn't like seeing the wall through the Detolf. I didn't put anything fancy just some black matting paper I had lying around.

Oh wow!! That looks so nice. It makes the colors jump at you. All the figures look so much colorful and brighter.

I think that the solid black color looks better than any image would.

For those interested the display cabinet in the center is custom and the rest is Ikea

the chrome struts are from :

The lights are Ikea's Dioder, spots and strips :

and the glass is toughened and sourced locally

and the carcass was built from laminated chip board and constructed by a local joiner

in total I probably spent about £400 on the custom bit, Ikea was another figure entirely

I created the cabinet around Ikeas Effektiv modular cabinet system placing them over the top and bottom

Upgrade and get the Besta system from Ikea. I love it!

Can we get more pictures of the Besta system? I am really looking for something to put my PF in but with the size they are it is harder to fine and I don't want to use detolfs, those are just for my 12".

Man, detolfs are great. But Ikea will not ship them to Hawaii. So now I am at a loss as to what to store my 12' stuff in.

Yeah, I keep a look out there. I found a few but, they were on the big island.

Ive had a Detolf, Billy and now the Besta. I prefer the Besta the most cause of all the combos you can do. Im using them for my entertainment centers too so everything will match.

I checked Ikea's site and you're right, the possibilities are extreme. I still prefer the detolfs for my 12" figures but will definitely check out the Besta line for the bigger items.

Any pictures of your besta system? I am thinking about getting a bunch for my PF. I figured wth the 50" ones I can get two shelves each and depending on the PF I can fit two in a shelf.

Yea cause I really want to know if I need to drive to Ikea this weekend because that is the only reason I would be going. I will give out bribes if I need too for pictures.
