Just got back from the Elizabeth, NJ store. There are about 22 Detolfs in stock.

Do they make the lighter color anymore? The beech or birch or whatever, tan? I only see the dark brown now. I have two "beech" and not certain I want to mix it up with a dark one in the center.

I believe all reports indicate that Black-Brown is now the only option. When looking through local stock here (we have 4 stores in driving distance) both Beech and Black-Brown are listed, but only Black-Brown has any stock. YMMV.

You can always paint the Beech parts black - I did it to the three Detolfs I bought used.

I actually prefer the beech, I live in Cali and it goes better with our lighter furniture. But I may just got ahead and grab one while I can. I'll have a harlequin display of light to dark and back again. Maybe it will look cool.

I went to the Charlotte, NC and they didn't have it on display where it was in the past. I assume it still isn't available there.

The web site says they probably have them in stock. And if you click on the "prognosis" link it will tell you they have 29 units right now, and that based on their recent sales trends, they should have the same amount for the next 4 days. When I checked a few minutes ago the stock status was yellow instead of green, but I didn't click through to the details.

The online stock status for the Long Island store is 1 unit.

I'm not sure why the online stock indicator for the US site doesn't necessarily reflect what's available at the store right on the product page, but my advice is to either call ahead to the specific store for an accurate stock check, or ask someone on the floor to look it up on their internal system when you're at the store. Here in Canada I've had good luck with the online stock checker, including the numbers reported by IKEA's iOS app. The specific unit availability is shown right on the product page when you select a store and in my experience, with a few low-availability items, they were bang-on. I know this because I cleaned them out of those items on my visits.

My Ikea doesn't carry Detolf's anymore. I'm pretty disappointed but at the same time I hated the glass on it. Never was cleaned completely. Switching to Besta's for all my collectibles.

I have a Bestå, I love it! If you put a glass half-shelf in, you get "stadium seating" style shelving, and the space exceeds a Detolf.

BTW, Detolfs should be back at all IKEAs soon enough. Stores that are "out of stock" will show additional details when you click on the stock link, such as "expected stock April 4"

That sucks. I noticed last week that the other NJ stores list a date for stock availability. You should ask at the store, at least that way there's a chance your input will be recorded.

So I just ordered two online considering the cost of gas to my nearest store would cost more than the shipping price($99). Has anybody had any experience with shipping from Ikea?

Keep checking, site says they are getting more this weekend as well as the Elizabeth store. I got mine in Elizabeth last Friday. Make sure you call and ask them to check the stores actual inventory. I made many trips to both Paramus and Elizabeth until I started calling. Good luck.

I'm snagging a couple later this afternoon, I'll be painting them the base and top matte white though to match the rest of the displays. These are literally the greatest cost effective displays available for collectors. Glad they're back, they have both the beech and the brown/black base at my ikea.

Just heard from my brother that the entire line of Expedit is also EOL, but replaced with something "similar" - I know a bunch of you guys were/are using those under Detolfs, so that's something to keep in mind.
