To be honest, I've just got to Montreal and I'm finding it a bit samey. It's good but I can't see me finishing it.

Finished it... Its a nice game. Better than the releases we've had so far in this pretty low year of gaming... however the story was kinda over half-way through the game, I mean it was pretty predictable after a point.

I cant really say its a great game, maybe it stems from the automatic comparisons with the original that come in mind when objectifying it. I just wish its story had more depth, also some of the side quests were too tedious. The best new thing I liked about the game was the whole detailed emphasis on the conversation/persuasion thing... it seemed obviously more advanced than the original.

Some part of me wishes the original is updated with the graphics and item mechanics of this game...

Also * POSSIBLE SPOILER*
For those of you who finished this, and played and remember the details from the previous two installments... did you realise who the Denton brothers' 'parents' were?

I did:
Adam Jensen and Bob Page!!! Its true, cause Bob made the Brothers based on his DNA, as they were literally prototype shells for him to take over when he envisioned his merger with the Helios AI, and without Adam Jensen's DNA implementing the nano-augmentation would be impossible. JC & Paul are thus 'sons' of these two men

The mission that starts in China that takes you to Montreal is freakin' long! :slap

So far it does get repetitive but it still keeps me interested. So far I kept focusing on upgrading the hacking augs. I haven't finished it or played the previous game so I can't really respond to you axecutioner.

Play it now Laudel! :rock

You'l be going to China again later, just make sure you've got your cloaking augs done... it'll REALLY help and youll need it later. Good call on the hacking augs though.. those should be upgraded first, theres too much hacking in the game...

kinda disappointed with the special edition (the signed one) :( stupid sticker residue that won't come off... and cheap ass figure :(

Stuck on Barret. Hes pissing me off. :(

If you have any, use an EMP or gas grenade to stagger him long enough to conceal yourself.

You can pick up and throw the explosive barrels/gas canisters at him.

Also, hypostims and painkillers can raise your health above 100. That can sometimes make a difference.

Thanks. Tried some of that. Wasn't quick enough. I have it on the harder setting. I will try again. Thanks Chris! :rock

I have a BA in game design, which makes me a little jaded when it comes to playing games, so keep that in mind.

I feel like Deus Ex HR is just an average game as a whole, but when you look at its constituant parts it looks pretty mediocre at best. The shooting mechanics are bland and uninspired. However I will say I liked some of the unique weapon upgrades, (Looking at you exploding revolver rounds). The stealth mechanics are next to non-existant, MGS this game is not. The AI is horrible, on more than one occasion all the enemies would just bunch together in a hall making no attempt to find cover, of flush me from mine. Or they would one by one slowly walk into my death traps.

The voice acting was horrible, and the animations were stiff, jerky, and primative, which became very apparent in the conversations. The Chineese characters sound Asian, but don't really look like it. Finally the pacing was really off. The last level was the easiest to get through, and keeping with that trend the final boss was the easiest. I was also dissapointed that the best weapon was really only avaliable for the final area, and due to the reasons just mentioned was basically unecessary/overkill.

What I did like was the setting, though I can't credit the design team for that. The music, even though it was pretty much generic sci fi synth. Scouring every pc, ebook, and pocket secretary for backstory. And finally the theme of loosing one's humanity through augmentation, though I do feel they could have explored that more.

All in all it's a decent game, but it seems to suffer from Jack-of-all-trades syndrome. I think this game will be quickly forgotten as soon as this years big holiday releases hit shelves.

So I just finished this game last night.

And...
WTF was with that ending? Jesus H. Christ that was terrible. A short 3 minute video on the pros of research in technology. Wonderful. What about Megan? What happened with her? They mentioned it would be explained--why she did what she did, her connections with Sarif and his intentions, as well as some fallout into their relationship. But what did we get? Nothing. A 3 minute ******* FEMA video.

:slap:slap:slap

Was I the only one disappointed with the ending?
