The backtracking killed the game for me. The combat was great everything else was really lacking.

Yea I would have taken DMC 3 or even 1 over this.

DMC1 is great, but it's so archaic and stuff compared to the rest of the series. That's a remake I could get behind.

Backtracking sucked sure, but at least Dante's section of the game redeemed a lot. I don't know how Vergil's sidequest plays... but from Gameplay he plays extremely fast.

Oh yeah, DMC1's age really shows. That's an issue I'm having in my LP, how archaic it is compared to DMC 3 and 4. :lol the RE camera angles, some of the movement...fun game still

Dante's section was fun at times, but he and Nero should have had separate campaigns instead of being one co-joined campaign, like Resident Evil Code Veronica swapping out with the Redfield siblings.

The most difficult part of DMC1 for me is both Mundus forms, and Nightmare 3 on Dante Must Die. Nelo Angelo 3 can be hard too...but he's actually the fun hard, those two? The frustrating, make you wanna smash something, and hate life kind of hard. I find DMC3 to be harder still but again fun hard at times, Dante Must Die is almost totally different though.

I gotta say at times, DMC1's humble beginnings as RE4 help it at times, but also hold it back...platforming with RE camera angles. One of the worst things I've seen in a game ever.

DMC3 retconned DMC1's Force Edge into being the most powerful of all the swords, while in DMC1 it's a standard sword that was "gifted" from Sparda. If it were to be remade, he'd need to use the Rebellion and just keep the Force as a memento.

They should of just remastered DMC3, but it's better than nothing.

You know, they already remastered DMC3 right? In the "HD Collection." It was pretty bare bones, with no real gameplay updates or graphic tweaks beyond running in HD. What you probably want is a full on remake of that game (which yeah, would have been nice).
And technically what they are doing with 4 isn't a remaster as its already "HD," they are just adding new gameplay features to justify calling it "Special Edition."

I forgot about that, but like you said it's the same game only slightly better looking. DMC3 had good extra content, but they could take it further.

A full on remake would be great, considering Capcom remade the first Resident Evil, and the first Mega Man. Plus, there are story inconsistencies with DMC1 and DMC3, so a fix would work. Though I wonder if they would keep Alastor in a DMC1 remake.

Alastor is all right, but Rebellion is the best design, next to Yamato. Nero's Red Queen is pretty cool too...but sometimes looks like something out of FF :lol

Red Queen... I can take or leave it. I don't understand why it needed to be half a dirt bike engine...

Rebellion is overall the best regular sword... but the Sparda is the coolest in the series.

Doing something like a remake of the first game that fixed the weird consistency issues between 1 & 3 (and hell the anime even) would be cool but at this point I'd much prefer a 5th game in the series. Maybe do something that full on retcons the 2nd game?

DMC2's story wasn't as entertaining as DMC4's could be though both aren't outstanding despite DMC4's attempts, but DMC2 was overall a bad game, while 4 was at least good.

A game that effectively retcons DMC2 would be great though.

I think the big "issue" with DMC2 is how Dante is portrayed. He doesn't really act in any way similarly to how he is in the other games - its as though its a completely different character. He's so silent and grim versus goofy and chatty. DMC 3 & 4 Dante is a really silly dude and thats kind of his appeal to me anyway. So without that 2 just feels "off."

For me with DMC2, it's Dante not being interesting at all, story being not even funny bad but just plain bad, music being average/generic, and being not remotely fun at all, with some missions being pretty unnecessarily long. IT's also a total joke to play through.
