So far I'm enjoying this quite a bit. I can see myself warming to this Dante despite the changes.

I'd say his look is more old british punk rock look instead of emo/twilight/etc...whatever words are being thrown around these days. I kind of dig it.

Played three levels and it's fun. This Dante may grow to be the Dante we know and love since his hair does become white lol

Big Call of Duty fan right here man.

Uhhh, way to assume. The DMC story has always been typical nonsensical Japanese garbage. The only people who played them for the story are stupid weeaboos who think it's still 1986 and that hitting stuff with an electric guitar that shoots bats is rad.

The gameplay is what the series is centered around, and it's phenomenal here. You can only make the same game for so long.

Woah. Don't you dare diss classic dmc. It may not of been uber awesome but Dante's cheesyness was funny and cool. And that "so called Japanese garbage" was amazing in during the old games. It was corny but damn did it make a good impression with people. Btw this Dante is just as stupid as the old one in a sense that he's a cliche version of a modern bad boy. Classic Dante will always win. It's funny how you make fun of the fan of the old series when you don't understand it.

I am getting this game tomorrow, hope it turn out good ... :panic::panic::panic:

Exactly. I enjoy the story line of the classic DMC games. How can anyone play a game and get enjoyment if they don't like the story? Do people really play simply for a games mechanics? o_O

Also, some of you must have no concept of the history and progression of popular music. In no way has DMC ever visually appeared like mid 80s hard rock or metal. It's more like 90s Japanese Visual Kei if you ask me. There are certainly stylistic emblishments from various eras of rock music, but hair metal certainly not.

I'm waiting to pick this up when it gets a bit cheaper. RE6 dropped $20 pretty quick, I'm sure if I wait a short period of time I can get this for at least $45. I'm pretty excited to play it though, I'm just spent from buying tons of Hot Toys, Gundam models, and guitar stuff, haha.

I think you missed the irony throughout the entire post. A plea against assuming followed by nothing but assumptions.

Anyway, the DMC story was great for what it was, but people are treating it like it's high art and completely immune from improvement and/or reimagining, when it's not. I personally would rather see something new than stick with the status quo, as we all saw what happened with DMC4. It needed a reboot, whether we like it or not.

The combat system in the reboot is really deep and what drew me to the game in the first place, as brawlers don't really provide me with a good story usually. I mean, I'm still trying to figure out Bayonetta. So long as the game is fun I can forgive a lot, because that's still the core of the experience. And it's fun as hell.

I still think DmC has a sub-par story which is a blatant rip off of DMC3 to a degree. The gameplay is fluid, but If I hate the story and character for what they are, I can't get into it.

if I end up buying this, it sure isn't going to be retail price.

Well I mean, there's always Blockbuster or something. No reason not to give it a shot. I ignored Spec Ops for quite a while because I just didn't like the look of it, but I ended up really enjoying it once I broke down and played it.

I in no way went after this game for gameplay gripes since I don't have any. I just hate that the franchise was bastardized. DMC4 was bad since Dante took a back seat to dumb Nero, but it was no reason to flush that era of DMC.

I don't disagree. I'm not as attached to the series as a lot of people so I've got a disconnect there that helps me not mind the changes much. Now if we were talking about Zelda, I could rant for days.

The same can be said about Resident Evil. I liked where they took it with RE4, nut no further than that. Capcom as a whole Fk'd all their heavy hitters.
