It's a shame that these giant companies shop out their franchises to these other companies. Two instances I can think of is Metal Gear Rising, which for the most part is a good little side sequel which isn't even canon and of course DmC. If Capcom wanted a reboot fine, but I don't think it should of left their hands.

I'm enjoying this game. I'm a big fan of the originals, mostly DMC3. When this was announced I was upset and hated the idea but now after playing it for a while I like it.

The gameplay is great, I love the upgrades and demon-weapons. But of course there are bad things within the game, such as voice acting for some characters and a glitchy camera spot once a blue moon.

Anyways, it's at least a rent. You can't go wrong with a fun hack n' slash.

That's actually a very refreshing take on it :clap

I know it plays well, it's just I cannot look at the story and characters without being partial to the former era.

Well, I finished it today. I can honestly say it's my favorite in the series. It hit all the necessary story beats we're familiar with from the first 4 games but put its own spin on it and, honestly, where the story ends up isn't as far away from the originals as you'd think based on first looks/impressions. Plus it's just fun as all hell.

I was struggling to think of just who Dante reminds me of, but I finally figured it out today. He's very much like Peter Venkman in the Ghostbusters movies. Just with a dirtier mouth, obviously. The way he's written, his reactions to things, his general smartass attitude...it's almost spot-on Venkman. I wasn't expecting to like him as much as I do because all the pre-release stuff made him look like a surly brat, but he had a really good character arc. Both he and Vergil, really, but mainly Dante because it established him as a surprisingly heroic character. I'm really very impressed by the game, and a fan of Ninja Theory now. I went and picked up Enslaved today, looking forward to giving it a whirl because I hear it's fantastic.

Seriously you Guys

This Game doesn't deserve the Hate it's getting .

I Love the DMC series, but this game is Awesome! i havn't finished it yet, just Beat Bob Barbas, and it was an Awesome Boss Battle!.

Yea it's a good game it's just Dante is unlikable and the developers are *******s.

Dante's the exact opposite of unlikable.

Yea to you maybe. But he's not as clever or as cunning as the old dante was an thats a fact right there. Old dante smiled at a challege this Dante just curses and tries to act like some tough guy. Pshh Yea whatever.

I beat it. I liked it quite a bit. My favorite is still DMC3, but I still liked new Dante. There were some things about new Vergil that I wasn't fond of. I liked the weapons quite a bit, especially Aquila (the shuriken like blades).

You guys seen the DMC3 Dante skin yet? It's bs that people have to pay for more already on disc dlc from Capcom again...

I like how you just completely ignore any positive feedback about the game simply to retread your pathological hatred for something you've never played or experienced outside of YouTube videos and fanboy reviews on Metacritic. But hey, if you enjoy not being informed, good on ya. The world would be a boring place without the ignorant. We wouldn't have people to laugh at.

Angry Joe gets it. Its fanyboys. The game isn't bad; it's just that fanboys hate the idea of change. I could understand thier the anger though being a Star Wars fan.

As I said, I hated the idea but love the game after beating it. I'm currently playing SoS mode and awaiting the DLC.

Somethings I would change in a heartbeat are Vergil's motives coming out of nowhere and his clothing, seems like a total neck-beard dressed him, and the human Kat.
She's one dimensional and I really didn't care if she lived or not. I found that blonde Hollywood-Prego-Demon more interesting than her, quite sad.

Another thing I didn't like, the levels... Where was the exploring during missions? Like in DMC3 you're in that palace for a good amount of time going back and forth.
But here it seems every location is only one mission and is over pretty quick.

Anyways, it's a rent or Black Friday 2013 buy.

Quick edit:
Dante is like Young Joe from Looper, he's an asshat. It's going to take him some growing up.
During the course of the next games I'm sure he'll be more like the Dante was all know and love.
The shop owning pizza eater.
