I would agree with your list if Godfather 3, Matrix 3, or even TDKR were good. TDKR being the best 3 out of that list but still my least fav of the 3 Batman films.

to me godfather part 3, revolutions, and rises are all perfect ends
to the trilogies. when people like the first two films out of those three
trilogies but dont like the last movie in them.
it makes me think they dont like the first two for the right reasons.

I will agree to disagree with you. I know what I like and don't like. :lol

The Godfather 3 was done many years later as an after thought and does not hold a candle to the first 2. It was not from the original book which the first 2 were made from. It was an add on not an end to a trilogy. The Matrix was a one off that then 2 sequels were filmed back to back and was marketed as a trilogy. I know why I loved the original and did not like the sequels. TDKR was a respectable movie and yes it did bring things to an end. I just did not like the length of the movie and the poor editing and pacing.

ok its cool you dont like them but some of that is just not true.

the Godfather 3 writers are the author of the book Mario Puzo and
francis Ford Coppola
. and is very much the great end to the trilogy.

and the matrix was written as a trilogy.

I have no issue with you liking them but when the first Matrix was made it was not planned as a trilogy until it was successful. Then they made 2 and 3 back to back. However in the end it was considered a trilogy I guess but I still didn't like the third one mostly. I loved the first one and I liked the second one.

Yes Godfather 3 was written by the original writers. I am well aware of this. However like I said before it was an add on. When they did the first 2 films back in the day they didn't have part 3 in mind. They created the third story much later is what I meant.

On first viewing my answer has to be 'no' unfortunately. I thought I had moderated my expectations enough but I still came out of the cinema feeling a tad unsatisfied.

thats not true about the matrix it was written as a it could be one movie
like star wars a new hope. but if the movie is successful
they get to tell there hole story. so they had the idea for two more movies
when they made the original. the first is still by far the best film.
but revolutions is my second favorite. i like it much more than reloaded.

and Francis Ford Coppola had an idea to maybe one day
make a film called "The Death of Michael Corleone".
wich is what godfather part three is. him and Mario Puzo
wanted the movie to be called that too.
they felt like michael got away with too much.
and he made it the best trilogy.
i just love them all in their own way and as a hole.
but yeah the first two are the best.

Well I can go on and on debating this with you but I won't derail the thread any further. We are kind of saying the same things but differently. So for the sake of ending the debate I'll just leave it alone. The bottom line is money and hollywood dictate sequels most of the time. The only true trilogy that was in your list was Lord Of The Rings. 3 movies based on 3 books that was made back to back to back. All planned out. Not made up as they went along because the first film was a hit. The writers of the Godfather may have had ideas in their head but if it was truly planned out ahead of time the third movie would have fit better. They made the third movie to cash in and it wasn't written or thought out as well as the original book. One book not 3.

i like TDK more and more ever time
and i know thats how this will be too.
i loved it the first time in IMAX.
cant wait to see it again.

I think there should be a whole section just for TDKR on this forum to irritate Darth Cruel even more. :lol

Yeah, I would say this movie met expectations in a sense, in that I expected it would be quality on the order of the first two films. It has its issues, but what movie doesn't (well, I know of one or two, but. . .). Completely disagree about the earlier point re: Godfather and the Matrix. Sometimes sequels just don't work, for whatever reason. GF 3 failed on many levels, irrespective of the creative team involved. George Lucas was responsible for the Star Wars prequels, but they still sucked. Sometimes an artist or artists are past their prime and just can't go back in time. Sometimes they just have a "miss." But the critical consensus of the 3rd GF and Matrix movie exists for a reason.

I should add that I actually think Tobe Hooper's Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is better than (gulp) the first one (!!!). So, I'm certainly sympathetic to those who have opinions different from the mainstream :lol But, I disagree with the logic that somehow you have to appreciate an entire trilogy just because the first or first two films of one work for you. Lots of people crap on Return of the Jedi, and though I don't hate that film like others do, I can see where they are coming from.
