Do you put dioramas and/or backgrounds and bases in your Detolfs, Billys, Bestas, etc?

All of my shelves are currently empty save for the figures, of course, and I'd like to spice things up and make my displays more exciting. Some people prefer a cleaner, museum-style look, which can be lovely. But I think I want to have some fun with my toys. :wink1:

So if you've spruced up your display a bit, post some pics here.

And if you take diorama commissions, let me know!

i dont have any yet but am thinking along the same lines as you. a background and 1 or 2 props would make it more interesting. I am looking to have a go for my Yamato greek myth female figures i have coming soon.

I used exclusively glass shelves in my Besta cabinets, thinking a Dioder-lined top piece would provide ample light throughout the cabinet. They do...almost. The usage of bases or props (Joker interrogation table, for example) blocks some of the light and causes shadows. So, I went back and put more LEDs on the inner-sides, below the glass shelves. That helped, but I still need to tweak the lighting, and make a final decision whether the character bases are required.

As far as visuals...my Batman Armory is pretty much a diorama style piece. The Interrogation Scene background and table count (imho). However, I recently picked up some of the Precision Snow and Ice stuff, and am working on a Hoth scene for my SS Han, Luke and Tauntaun. We'll see how it turns out.

Dude, that's awesome. That's what I want.

I'm curious - how did you do the sand and snow bases (materials)? I want some just like that.

The bases are polystyrene insulation board.

For the snow Base I just hacked away at the polystyrene until it looked like snow. I also went at it with my dremel tool to gouge away at the polystyrene.

For the sand I roughed up the surface with some sand paper, then covered the entire surface with PVA glue and sprinkled sand over the wet glue. I did this process about 5 times allowing plenty of time in between layers.

Any more questions just ask.
