They all were glued on top of having magnets direct from the factory. So, you have to pry the two halves apart (front and back of the buckle) to be able to remove the belt. However, given the age of the figure, you'd probably run the risk of tearing the pleather belt. Are you tryning to do a body swap? If so, it's going to be a PITA to get the suit of and then fit it onto one of the more recent larger bodies.
bought a used one and the holster had fell apart , bought one from toy anxiety and couldn't remove the belt .

You could always try peeling the the underside of the pleather belt that goes through one of the loops of the buckle. That's how I originally got mine off way back when I changed out the body. But, again, you run the risk of tearing the pleather given the age of it. Or, maybe the glue will be weak enough that it comes apart with ease. Either method is a risk though at this stage.

thanks for all the advice , appreciate ya !

I'd second Gipetto's suggestion with undoing the belt loops- I broke the glue on the metal buckle, and the magnets are just misaligned enough on mine that the front/back sides don't line up perfectly. I've had to reglue the belt pieces around the metal loops, and fabric glue is pretty easy to source to secure that again.
