Director Tony Scott dead in apparent suicide

Director Tony Scott jumped off the Vincent Thomas bridge near Long Beach on Sunday and died from his injuries.

The Los Angeles coroner confirmed to TheWrap that Anthony David Scott of Beverly Hills jumped off the bridge and died on Sunday. That is Scott's full name, and the British-born director has lived in Los Angeles for many years.

The U.S. Coast Guard told The Daily Breeze that a suicide note was found inside Scott's black Toyota Prius, which was parked on one of the eastbound lanes of the bridge.

Scott is a well-known Hollywood director who is best known for high-octane action movies including "Top Gun," "Crimson Tide" and many other hit movies. He is the brother of Ridley Scott, another prominent director, both born in England. They are partners in a production company, Scott Free Productions.

His most recent movies were "Unstoppable" and "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3."

He was also in the process of exploring a sequel to his biggest hit, "Top Gun 2."

The Vincent Thomas Bridge is a suspension bridge over Los Angeles Harbor that links San Pedro with Terminal Island. It appears frequently in films and television.

he directed some of the worst movies I ever saw, at the time I really hated his style, like Unstoppable. Domino is the worst one of his for me,
but Now it makes me wonder why did he do this? what made him jump,

True Romance, Top Gun, Crimson Tide, Man on Fire, etc. He directed some solid films, especially when Denzel Washington was involved.

I'm shocked by this awful news. Some people may have hated his style, particularly in some of his more recent films, but I've always loved his stuff. Crimson Tide, True Romance, The Last Boy Scout, Beverly Hills Cop 2, Top Gun, etc. etc. RIP
