Opening scene Alien brain busts a new Disney marine...dead pan the xenomorph turns to the camera and says..."yummy the taste of 'woke-brains'...get me off this frigging planet"

“I think what it boils down to — what we’ve got today [are] the audiences who were brought up on these f---ing cellphones. The millennian [sic] do not ever want to be taught anything unless you’re told it on a cellphone,” Scott said.

While I am concerned for the attention spans of my generation and the kids they'll raise... this is such a pathetic, overplayed excuse. Scott's lost the magic touch, plain and simple. He grasps at straws when making movies and does so even more chaotically when explaining why they fail. It's not the Alien or the historical epic that's cooked -- it's him.

Translation: "I haven't directed a decent flick since Black Hawk Down and absolutely cannot compete with cellphone content even though many, many other directors can."

It ain't "audiences" that are the problem Ridley...

Lots of harsh responses on here, yes he comes off sounding like a bitter old man but he's a bitter old man who has made some absolutely classic films and has achieved more than any of us ever will

I can't help but think sometimes less is more, especially at this point. The Alien and Bladerunner universes as depicted in the first film(s) are intriguing but it's no secret that every reveal, retread and extrapolation runs the risk of falling short and will almost certainly compromise the original mystique.

Maybe they'll be good? But I can't escape the nagging feeling that This Is Why We Can't Have New Things.

I think the bombing has more to do with Damon's horror mullet/goatee combo deal and Affleck's "Abe Lincoln - albino hunter" look.

What it boils down to is the movie not looking very interesting lmao. Waaah phones bad.

“Back in my day we had two sticks and a rock and we had to share the rock”

Some news regarding the series:

FX shares new Alien TV series details and teases “big surprises”

I wonder how they can have aliens on Earth before Alien...
Sure, AvP already did that, but I don't really consider canon and it didn't imply actual human knowledge of the critters anyway.
It could explain why W-Y rerouted the Nostromo, but it still feels a bit odd.

It's a crime that it bombed, it's a brilliant, intelligent movie. Actually the best Scott has done in quite a while, right up there with his best stuff.
