I know Disney's live action remakes have been mostly poor. The exceptions being "The Jungle Book" (2016) and "101 Dalmatians" (1996), both of which I thoroughly enjoyed ("The Jungle Book" especially). But, apart from those two movies, Disney's other live action remakes have ranged from "just ok" to "boring" or downright "bad".

HOWEVER.

I think the upcoming live action remake of "Lilo and Stitch" looks great. I might be biased, because the original 2002 animated movie is one of my personal favourites of the Disney Animated Classics (it's completely full of heart and joy, and really tackles the concept of what it means to be family). But taking my own love for the original aside, this new movie certainly appears to have a lot of the animated movie's charm and sense of fun. I appreciate that this is all based on a trailer, but I have high hopes and am eagerly anticipating this one.

Oh, and the CGI animation on Stitch looks really impressive.

L&S is my favorite Disney film....

I do not need a remake of it at all ......as a matter of fact, I already have several sequels and a TV show if I want more of it....

Last thing I need is a new film , that's a shot by shot remake (with some new jokes) of the original. (Looking at you Dragon remake)

Thankfully , I have only seen one live action remake "Beauty and the beast" that was enough for me.

I am a HUGE Disney fan, but these cash grabs are not for me.

To each their own :duff and I can understand your trepidation and indifference.

I guess there is a fine line between making an identical shot for shot remake (which may or may not be the case here - we don't know yet), and then changing so much that people complain that it is too far removed from the original ("Beauty and the Beast", "The Little Mermaid", and "Dumbo", etc).

Agreed I did not need this remake, the original 2002 animated "Lilo and Stitch" is excellent. But, a remake is here, and I'm just pleased that it looks fun and true to the original. At least at the moment.

The trailer made me smile, so that's all I need!

I've never actually seen the original, but I agree that this one looks to be of better quality than the other "live-action" remakes.

Most of them aren't even "live-action"....they're just CGI, so slightly more realistic cartoons.

If anyone has young kids, maybe they can attest to this: kids prefer these new ones to the originals.

The classic 2D animated versions are all there on Disney+ but my nephews and nieces prefer the crappy remakes every single time. Maybe it's just a generational thing.

PS.....Stitch is absolutely huge in Japan. Maybe not the actual movie, but the character? He's easily in the Top 5 Disney characters. You see Stitch merch everywhere. I was surprised by that.

Add me to the list of people that think this looks good. "Need" is certainly a strong word but this one looks worthwhile, unlike all of the other live action remakes. Only one I've cared for so far is Aladdin and that was mostly for the Genie storyline. The rest of the movie was inferior to the original and they didn't do justice to Aladdin or (especially) Jasmine.

I mean it looks fine, but I really don’t see the need for any remakes that don’t actually bring anything new or worthwhile to the table. And so far none of them have.

They’re just worse versions for todays kids to be nostalgic about in 20 years.

Time will tell. I think this has an opportunity to surpass the original. Obviously not for those with strong attachment/nostalgia for the original but it’s likely not intended for those individuals. It’s not like this detracts from the original, if that’s your preference. Because previous live action remakes haven’t moved the needle, I don’t think that’s a reason to abandon the entire concept.

I don’t think it does.

It’s a waste of resources imo. Make something new instead.

Oh wait.

They can’t.

Looks great! I love the original and it's cool they seem to be respecting the designs and appearance of the characters. I hope they make some cool action figures.

Not true. The have made quite a few original new movies over the past decade.

They have made just if mand if not more sequels because new concepts are very very risky and they need money maker that are guarenteed.
