There was a lot I didn't like about Lion King, but it's been awhile.

I remember hating how it marked a departure from traditional broadway style music to pop songs in Disney movies, at least for a while. The Elton John music was just insipid. The Hyenas were insultingly bad. Broderick just felt wrong for the role.

Mufasa and Scar were good though.

You ain't heard nothing. On the current Lion Guard cartoon, Simba is voiced by Rob Lowe. I don't know what gets kids into vans, but I bet it sounds a lot like Rob lowe.

I like Donald Glover as the new Simba and am glad that we're getting James Earl Jones back but they NEED Jeremy Irons at bare minimum back too.

Absolutely. Scar is one of my favorite Disney villains of all time and Irons' silky-smooth voice was PERFECT for that character.

If you're bringing back Jones as Mufasa, then Irons MUST come back as Scar.

But I do hear the people that want Irons back. It's off putting when they only bring back one iconic voice. Having Peter Cullen voice Optimus in the first Bayformer movie without Frank Welker's Megatron always seemed wrong. But it was just Bayformers so in the emd no big.

I'd also rather have Irons back than Jones if I had to choose between the two. Don't get me wrong, Jones' Mufasa was great in the animated flick but nothing really compared to Irons' Scar.

It’s kind of funny JEJ was so good they couldn’t recast him. They could have easily brought back many cast members but only he made the cut. I’d have brought back Irons for Scar as well. Baron Mordo isn’t menacing enough IMO, so I’d say he is probably the weekend recast of the bunch. Plus his voice won’t sound aged enough to be the brother of JEJ. He is too young. More of an older cousin to Simba maybe?
