I want a Live Action Lilo and Stitch. Thic Islanders and all :)

They'll give the lead to a white Disney Channel actress so my preference would be no.:dunno

What's up with the rotten RT score? Is it that bad? Trailers look amazing.

There have been a few highly negative reviews, one stated that the filmmakers fundamentally misunderstood the original film's appeal and that the new film is a textbook example of the uncanny valley.

Tom Hanks can play Woody...or Christian Bale. He can use his morphing powers to turn in to a 12 inch plastic doll.

The rumor is a dream pairing of Kevin Hart as Woody and Idris Elba as Buzz.:yess:

Just seen this tonight. If you like the animated version, you should like this. I'll say this without spoiling anything, there isn't much new they brought to the table. Its basically a modernized version of the original story. The CGI is outstanding nonetheless!

Agree IMO. Gorgeous CGI. Except gotta agree with the critics negative comments re CGI needing more emoting. I didn't applaud at the end, but many did - happy audience. IMO it's alright. (And the Mulan trailer looks gorgeous!)

I haven't seen it yet but it's poor from Disney that they pretty much made a scene for scene remake but left out the original Be Prepared.

I’ve heard they butchered “Be Prepared.” That alone kills any enthusiasm I have for seeing this anytime soon.

I knew going in that it wouldn't have all the "embellishments" of a cartoon - like the "Just Can't Wait to Be King" scene - because it's a grounded version. With that said, I loved it. While the cartoon was more facially expressive, I still felt connected to the characters emotionally. Don't go in, arms braced across your chest looking to scoff at every deviation - or lack thereof - from the original and you should love it too. Dialogue is about 80% the same with differing deliveries on certain words or phrases that we all remembered vividly - which can be a little "jarring" - but it comes with the terrain when one script is given to two different actors. There is one new scene that was added and they did not rehash all of Pumba and Timon's 1994 jokes - they were given plenty of new material.

My only gripe about the movie is not casting Jeremy Irons for the role of Scar. I wasn't initially on board with the look of Scar from the previews - mostly the loss of the black mane - but at the end, I was happy with this version of Scar - looks and sound wise. Again, really loved it. I don't purchase movies anymore but I would love to add this movie to the small collection I do have.

Well every show this evening was sold out my large group all sat front row which is no longer a huge problem with the reclining seats.

So it actually did some things better than the animated BUT it did the MOST important scene worse than the animated which instantly gives it a big strike for me.

The very critical Rafiki-Mufasa scene ending with the very emotional and iconic cosmic Mufasa followed by wise cracking but solid wisdom from Rafiki was pretty weak considering the cgi tech they had at their disposal.

The facial expressions were at times non existent but during the most critical times it did what it needed to but it still hurts the movie.

The Circle of Life sounded weak and at times lifeless, weird.

The end battle was superior to the cartoon though.

Be Prepared didn’t suck as bad as I had heard but realism still hurt this movie when there was really no need for it just go bat **** crazy.

Yes it’s accurate Pumbaa and Timon were great.

The stampede was still pretty harrowing and obviously very sad.

Audience reactions very positive full of claps and laughter.

But how do you drop the ball on the biggest emotional scene how! :slap

I saw this last night and thought it was pretty good. It following the exact same pattern as the original didn't bother me as much as I thought it would, and I thought what little changes they made were for the better. I also really liked how they handled Scar. The "Be Prepared" scene was quite weak but I enjoyed listening to Mordo voice him. I also really liked that...

...they seemed eager to put any of those fan theories about Scar being a homosexual to rest by having his feelings for Sarabi be another one of the many reasons he despised Mufasa so much.

7/10

It’s missing alot of the humor from the animated especially with the Hyenas and Zazu

Raifiki wasn’t wacky shaman enough.

The emotional layers were inferior to the animated but overall it still worked because the foundation is so strong.

I don't have a heavy emotional investment. Got the feeling my audience was happy partly 'coz it's the Lion King. Nostalgia. That doesn't mean I thought it was bad. But also kinda felt I could play soundtrack watching Animal Planet and get same effect. Still, my audience was happy. I'd say 7/10 overall 'coz of the CGI/visuals and - James Earl Jones:cool:

Yeah for what they were going for it worked.

I liked it.

But I love the animated for me it’s Disney’s best.

TROS should be JEJ last vocal performance his voice has pretty much lost most of it’s booming presence.

The movie was OK, but the songs lacked the energy of the original, and they really needed more emoting the character's faces. I also felt like some of the voice acting sounded like they weren't aware of what their characters were doing at the time, it really sounded like they were just in a recording studio saying their lines. Scar was fine except for Be Prepared of course.
