Ok so I got the form and to be honest I tossed that shat. I don't feel I should have to fill it out. Just my opinion. Today some real push _____ came to my house and just started rambling questions. She woke me up as well so I was really pissed to start. I told her no thank you several times and she just kept going on and said she would keep coming back. So after going back and forth she got a good view of my front door. So I was talking to my Mom and she was like Keith you have to fill that out. I'm like the ____ I do!

So whats the deal with this? :dunno

They probably will just keep coming back. Apparently they are really pushing to have a good census count this time around. I think it's hardly any questions that have to be answered, so I don't believe it will take too much time to just answer them.

I don't know if they can legally force you to answer it, but as you found out, they can try to harass you until you do it.

Damn thing takes about 3 minutes to fill out :lol

I looked it up:

If you refuse to give out the information or you deliberately give inaccurate information, you can be in legal trouble. According to United States Code, Title 13 (Census), Chapter 7 (Offenses and Penalties), SubChapter II, if you're over 18 and refuse to answer all or part of the Census, you can be fined up to $100. If you give false answers, you're subject to a fine of up to $500. If you offer suggestions or information with the "intent to cause inaccurate enumeration of population," you are subject to a fine of up to $1,000, up to a year in prison, or both.

So I think you should keep it up.... You can be our SSF Census refusal guinea pig.

don't see what the big deal is. in the time it took to make this thread and patrol it for replies you could have filled the thing out 10x already.

Because it's my personal information. :dunno I just feel some sort of way about. :lol

i thought the questions were pretty inoccuous. I was actually surprised at how basic it was. i'd make it a lot more indepth if it was up to me.

Was able to find this.

To Whom it May Concern,

Pursuant to Article I, Section 2, Clause 3 of the Constitution, the only information you are empowered to request is the total number of occupants at this address. My "name, sex, age, date of birth, race, ethnicity, telephone number, relationship and housing tenure" have absolutely nothing to do with apportioning direct taxes or determining the number of representatives in the House of Representatives. Therefore, neither Congress nor the Census Bureau have the constitutional authority to make that information request a component of the enumeration outlined in Article I, Section 2, Clause 3. In addition, I cannot be subject to a fine for basing my conduct on the Constitution because that document trumps laws passed by Congress.

Interstate Commerce Commission v. Brimson, 154 U.S. 447, 479 (May 26, 1894)

"Neither branch of the legislative department [House of Representatives or Senate], still less any merely administrative body [such as the Census Bureau], established by congress, possesses, or can be invested with, a general power of making inquiry into the private affairs of the citizen. Kilbourn v. Thompson, 103 U.S. 168, 190. We said in Boyd v. U.S., 116 U. S. 616, 630, 6 Sup. Ct. 524,―and it cannot be too often repeated,―that the principles that embody the essence of constitutional liberty and security forbid all invasions on the part of government and it's employees of the sanctity of a man's home and the privacies of his life. As said by Mr. Justice Field in Re Pacific Ry. Commission, 32 Fed. 241, 250, 'of all the rights of the citizen, few are of greater importance or more essential to his peace and happiness than the right of personal security, and that involves, not merely protection of his person from assault, but exemption of his private affairs, books, and papers from inspection and scrutiny of others. Without the enjoyment of this right, all others would lose half their value.'"

Note: This United States Supreme Court case has never been overturned.

Respectfully,

haha.my mom is doing this tight now as we speak.she is doing it for a pat time job just for a month and she hates it and says when shes done she wont do it again.census is to figure out how many people live in a house and that way they can figure out the population.its really the only way.but ya she told me most people are A holes at the door.there simple fast questions and if you refuse to come to the door like a lot do she said you have to keep going back until you get the info.but l just told her for those people just make up how many people live there, the people she hands in the paper work to would never know.

Lol...."we'll keep coming back." Good luck with that. This is why I don't answer the front door unless I know someone is coming over, or expecting something from UPS or Fedex.
