This sure looks like the Weta version to me. You may want to take note of the unwitch-king like crown he's wearing. SS's version may not be the WK you, or any of us, envision, but that doesn't mean it's not the WK. Why should SS now suffer because Weta screwed up in the first place.

I am seriously undecided. I don't hate it but I can see where the nitpicking of the sculpt is in play. I like the fact that it has the sword and am interested to see how it comes out in production. I don't like the tapered waist though. I will most likely not buy it but I'm unsure whether I even like it or not.

I don't know why people are relying on game cards (or whatever they are) to decide whether or not its accurate. As far as I know the image from the movie that clearly shows the WK is shown below and whichever way you look at it it looks more like the Weta statue than the SS LSB

meh. it doesnt look right. its too angular or something. kinda like its animated. it needs to be smoother and rounder. but i wouldnt buy it even if it was perfect. just not what im looking for.

Actually, it doesn't look like either in that shot. It certainly doesn't look any more like the SSW version there. Besides, that is just one screenshot. Everyone agrees that the twilight scene on Weathertop is heavily distorted, so using one distorted shot as "proof" of your cause just doesn't fly. There are several others of the Wiki from the same scene that look much more like the new bust than the SSW version.

Well heres another, and I still think it looks much more like the Weta piece, and I don't feel you can say it doesn't with any degree of "certainty" at all - guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Taking your argument one stage further, there's no point in comparing any of the images in that case. As I said in one of the other threads, if you like this all well and good, but in my eyes, it bears no resemblance whatsoever to what I saw in the movie....

I added that option for completists mainly. I didn't necessarily like all the Weta busts but I bought them all because I wanted the complete set.

Well, they way I look at it is that if you can say that the one shot you posted "clearly" shows that the SSW likeness is best, and that no one should rely on any other images (such as game cards), then I can also say that it "certainly" doesn't look that way.

So, to sum up, if you don't like it, you don't have to buy it. But to me (and several others), the resemblance is quite good. Just as good, in its own way, as the SSW pieces.

And I don't know why people are looking at the Weta bust to decide if it's accurate or not. I just hope if and when SS ever produces an Eomer PF or LSB they don't use the Weta bust as a reference.

Those game cards are from Decipher. The images on the Decipher card are taken from actual film footage of the movies, and all had to be approved by New Line Cinema prior to release. This card clearly shows the WK wearing his crown and he looks nothing like the Weta version. If New Line Cinema believes this to be the actual image of the WK then that's good enough for me....but hey, what do they know..... they only made the movies

From my perspective and own presuppositions the Weta is closer to what the screen caps show.

This is a bitter pass for me, I WANTED to want this one.

Here's a comparison using a screen cap from the Design Galleries from the FOTR Extended Edition. Without all the digital effects you can see that they're both pretty close, but I'll let you guys fight it out.

I've liked all the legendary busts so far, but this one just doesn't do it for me. Perhaps this character is just hard to capture in this format and scale. Beats me

There's just something about the headsculpt that seems off to me, for some reason. I also don't like the tapering torso.

Everything else is pretty cool, particularly the extended hand, as if reaching for the ring from Frodo, and the dagger.
