Do you think the value will ever jump up in these figures?

I've never really paid attention to how much individual SW figures are worth on the secondary market, I just know the majority of them don't hold their value. That being said, for some reason I enjoy buying them directly from Sideshow. And I always enjoy a good PPO. :)

I agree...and with some of the prices sideshow is asking now..which I think are getting ridiculous...by the time they hit your doorstep they are already worth less than what you paid (with the secondary market) Kinda sad. For my money though..i know some of you say its not worth anymore, but the Jabba with throne and all the setup is by far the most impressive sideshow star wars figure to date..including PF's. You pick up that throne for the first time and you can feel the greatness..and hernia. lol

I agree. The throne is really impressive. I actually went through a couple before I found one where the heads on the front were straight though, but at the time used ones were selling for more than I paid so I didn't lose any money.

It really is heavy and detailed, and the "frog tank" is awesome. I got the inclusive Jabba with the cup, but the cup is kind of crappy to be honest. It's poorly painted and not worth the extra money if you get it second hand.

I remember sitting there as the PPO's were made available, hoping I get the exclusive. LOL.

If I'd only known that I could get 99% of them later at a cheaper price...

I had a massive pay cut in 2007 when I switched jobs and as a result, I had to pass many of the SW stuff from Sideshow. Recently, I have been buying those figures at way below their original retail price from local sellers on eBay. As an example, I just bought a clutch of 4 12-inch SW Jedis at only $100. They were all mint in boxes and even plasic wrapped. That works out to only $25 per figure.

I think I gained enough from my collection so I am not concern about any monetary returns. During some tough time my hobby became breaks for me distracting me from some serious problems in hand, while I moved on with work. I will never sell my collection so I don't care about the movement of their prices. If I am broke I will sell everything else before my toys.:emperor:mad:

My friend and I were talking just the other day about Sideshows Star Wars figures. We are both die hard fans and collectors of sideshow Star Wars but lately they have been putting out really boring stuff and it's way too overpriced. There head sculpts are not that great and the paint, don't get me started on the paint. I love the Jedi's and Storm Troopers but I am already turned off by them doing repaints of Clone Troopers, Hasbro has ruined the excitement of troop building for me. If SS wants my money for future figures they need to release new figures not repaints, I want a Snow Trooper, Biker Scout, female Jedi's, Cody (I know he is coming some day), Rex, Bly, Gree, but not repaints. I wish they would learn from HT how to paint figures, If they are gonna ask for HT kind of dough for there figures they need to really change how they do things, I am not gonna pay $120 for a SS figure that is just OK when for $30 more I can have a HT bad ass figure which will hold it's value and I can proudly display in my collection.

I think Lucas has caused some serious star wars inflation... Starwars stuff is constantly being sold in mass quantities, and he's targeting a younger fan base (with no interest in collectibles, only cheap toys) now that he's churning out clone wars episodes...

Also, Lucas invented star wars mostly for money. What's left in it for him now? He's probably got more money than he knows what to do with... He made his "vision" come to life in the big screen, now he's done and he's rich...

Party's over now, just some of us don't want to go home yet. Star wars is dying, with not a whole lot of new stuff to fan the flame of SW fandom, and with a bad economy, and the enormous amount of merchandise being pumped out now, star wars stuff is not gonna be worth much.

Think of it this way: with the CW being the newest thing, the growth of the SW fanbase is slowing down. Part of the new growth is kids who are too young for collectibles. Both these factors are driving the demand for SW collectibles down, while the supply remains fairly large. In this economic recession, everyone who has SW collectibles and is desperate for money is selling their stuff for dirt cheap, driving the values down, and also increasing the supply. Fewer and fewer people are willing to buy "collectibles" if they seem to be worthless ATM, especially when they'd rather use their money on a new pair of shoes instead.

So who's left to buy? The hardcore SW fans who are fairly well off monetarily despite the recession. And if they were that well off and were really interested in SW collectibles, they probably would've bought everything that interested way back when it came out, and therefore don't need to buy any more. That leaves only the hardcore SW fans who became collectors recently and missed a lot of stuff the first time around. Within that group it would have to be the collectors who collect for fun, instead of money. That's not a whole lot of people...

This is a REALLY bad market for such things I'm afraid.

The stuff I buy I plan on keeping for all my life, as I would hate to part with any of my beloved 1/6 figures, and I don't buy ones to sell later because then they're useless and it's like essentially paying to get a large box that you can't do anything with, and it just takes up the precious little space that I have.

Those are good points.

I didn't plan on selling mine either, but recent events are forcing me to get rid of anything that may be worth something. I'm sure I'll regret it, but sometimes you've gotta do what you gotta do.

The market is pretty dead at the moment, and maybe forever. I see brand new SS figures on eBay not even selling for $20. I used to have the mindset that limited "collectibles" will be worth something one day. I guess that's no longer the case. Maybe in 100 years? lol

And I agree, Lucas has had his hand in killing the market. He's made it painfully clear that he doesn't give a damn about the fans. Even after so many petitions to release the original (not SE) trilogy on DVD, he has STILL yet to do it in a widescreen or enhanced format. He put out some crappy 4:3 versions just to shut people up. His "vision" is just that. His. Those who made him rich are of no consequence.

There is a helluva lot of generalising going on here with no facts as evidence. Ido think a lot of this collective discourse maybe concerning hasbro collections or dodgy ssc 1/6 editions. SSC SW can truely be called dying when an OT empire character PPO doesn't sell out in less than three minutes!

I agree with ck1. If anything, I see the collectibles probably going higher as parents are introducing SW to younger audience, and with additions of videogames, clone wars, younger audience will eventually get hooked also. It all depends on which item is being sold.

I sometimes see this jabba environment listed for $200, sometimes more. For this diorama, you're talking lots of money as you have to buy jabba, along with carbonite Solo, etc, More money involved than just buying the environment. For that kind money, the majority will most likely just get other figures or hot toys. Unless you have disposable income, its not really a good investment. This will only appeal to Hardcore fans that has disposable income to collect whatever SW items that are available. The jabba set is really nice, but very expensive to complete.

Star Wars will always be huge. But like everything, it just depends on which one people want and what they can afford.

Nobody said anything about Sideshow's Star Wars line dying (at least not anytime soon). They're doing just fine in the sense that they pretty much always sell out very quickly.

But that doesn't have anything to do with prices on the secondary market, which have always been bad for Sideshow Star Wars stuff, and I don't think that's likely to change anytime soon.

His "vision" is just that. His. Those who made him rich are of no consequence.

Was Star Wars supposed to make the fans rich? Or does Lucas' wealth mean he has to do whatever the fans demand?

Never understood this mentality. Then again, I never thought people should have to apologize, grovel, genuflect, or otherwise feign submissiveness for their success.

Well, today May 4 is Star Wars Day so have a Happy Celebration Day Fellas!! and May the Force Be With You All!!!

I have a ton of SW merchandise that I have collect since the early days of the Original Trilogy release!!...I do also have many 90's and 2000's figures and vehicles from Kenner/Hasbro that, honestly, never thought about selling them...I got married and all this stuff went (and is still) in boxes...is really sad to see them damaging stuffed like that...

Last week I opened one of those boxes and the plastic blister from many of the 90's figures are peeling from the card...

Since I knew Sideshow I just stopped buying 3 3/4" figures and focusing of these 12inch, but just buying the ones I admire the most (leaving out almost any figure from the prequels)...

I hope not being in the need of selling them but I think the value now is low, the vintage material I have is in great condition but everything is opened because as a kid I really didn't think about keeping them closed and displayed on walls hahahaha...
