For you maybe - and that's ok. But I would say for the VAST majority of Doctor WHo fans it worked out very effectively.

I suppose, but I think any further mentioning of the Time War is just going over old ground and the show needs to keep moving forward.

I get the impression some fans of the RTD era never want anything to change.

Agreed there and I would be pretty surprised if he did somehow touch on the Time War with regards to the cracks.

I'm hoping the Doctors line "history can be rewritten" will come into play and the whole Time War and destruction of Gallifrey will be rubbed from the continuity so that some new stories with the Time Lords can happen.

With the improved budget and FX technology the show has now it's a perfect opportunity to do a story set entirely on Gallifrey again.

I just hope that if it happens the interior sets look a bit more original than that blatant ripoff of the Coruscant Senate Chamber in "The End of Time".

I'm hoping that the final enemy in this series will be Omega (doubt it, but hey...) I would also like it to be revealed that (as in the Three Doctors) he was behind the time-war.

I'm for anything that brings Omega back. I've always been hoping for that.
I hope "time can be rewritten" does come back and bring big changes (as long as they are fun ones).

Some changes/events I'd like to see,

I already mentioned about the Time War and Gallifrey's destruction being rubbed from the continuity.

I'd like the Sontarans to be rebooted and be portrayed as a real menace, no more lame jokes about their appearance, powder blue armor or "Sontar ha!".

The Mondasian Cybermen should return and delete the Cybusmen.

River Song's original death should be replaced with one where a Yeti slaps that smug grin off her face.

The next companion should be some kind of alien, maybe a fugitive on the run from the Judoon.

No more overall story arcs for the season leading into a big reveal in the last couple of episodes.

"Amy's Choice" was amazing. IMO it's between this or "Dalek" for the best Nu-Who story so far. Outstanding! :rock

That seems to be the consensus. A few friends I have over there who are of almost an identical opinion as yours about the nu-series thought this was the best story of the season so far and possible one of the best of Nu-Who.

Can't wait to get it. ;)

If more of the one offs were as good I'd have no problems at all with that format. Next week's preview was awesome, it has a scene that's reminiscent of the bit in "Aliens" when Hudson gets grabbed from below!

Reminded me of Riker from TNG being pulled into that weird tar pit alien, saw that as a kid and it scared the pants off of me! i liked tonights episode, i laughed so hard when the doctor knelt between Amy's legs with his hands out waiting to catch a falling baby lmao! i didnt ever feel like the ponytail/pregnant world was the real one, but looks like the doctors bad side is going to be making more of an appearance. Matt Smith is steadily becoming my favourite doctor with his quirks that show his actual 907 years of life rather than Tennant who i thought was awesome never seemed to appear older than the actor portraying him. Still going off Amy quite a bit however and i cant put my finger on why..

I thought this was a superb example of how much better the 11th Doctor and indeed the humor is being written, such a reaction was perfectly believable for an alien as well as being funny!

Another thing I liked was how the Doctor came across as being fallible and not always in full control of the situations he finds himself in which is a massive improvement from 10's cocky "been there, seen/done everything" attitude.

My top 3 Doctors will never change ( Tom,Pat & Jon in that order ) but Matt Smith is already at 5th and challenging Hartnell for the number 4 spot.

Not bad considering I initially wasn't going to bother watching him as I thought he looked way too young to be any good :lol

Wow. I thought Amy's Choice was a very lazy and mediocre written episode. I can't believe the glowing praise it's gotten here.

Brendan, you only liked it because
the Doctor slapped down the Amy romance angle, hard
. Laugh. And I liked that story element, but thought it could have been written better. :dunno

Curses! Foiled again! :gah:

Joking aside I just felt it was everything a decent Who story should be, the basic premise was suitably odd, the constant switching back & forth left a great sense of "WTF is going on?, it was incredibly well paced, the leads were all great, there were some very funny bits and the revelation that the Dream Lord was actually a manifestation of the Doctor's darker side, albeit brought about by the pollen stuff was an intresting look at a side of the Doctors character that I thought never existed any more.

And it had some sinister looking old people :)

I have to say I'm disappointed how Amy has really been underused/underdeveloped since her incredible introduction in the first episode. For such a strong intro I'm surprised they've let her character disappear so much and become so generic.

I'm loving the new Doctor and new era, but that is my one big criticism and let down cause I loved her set-up. :(

I don't mind that as I felt the previous era focused on the companions ( and relatives ) far too much.

I enjoyed Amy's Choice considerably. I haven't really LOVED an episode this season, but I think this is my favorite so far. And yes, the Doctor putting his hands ready to catch the baby was hilarious, people in the other room were wondering what made me laugh like that :lol

I guessed about 3 minutes into the episode that both worlds were dreams, it logically fit that way.....but I feel like urge to go around and hitting old people with cars and logs now :rock
