So I've had mine for about a year and a half. I LOVE this thing. As amazing as it is I miiiiiiiiight have to let it go in the near future. Being that this was one of my grails I really don't want to sell it. I've looked on ebay and haven't seen one for sale in a long time. Any idea what these bad boys are going for these days?

Not sure when or if I'm going to let it go, just curious what they're worth now.

Thanks!

It is the best alien statue and one I'd love to add to my collection at some point.

I think the last time I checked it was selling for around 1k.

It really is a great piece, I wish the warrior and future SS alien moquettes were in the same scale.

I've considered tradinging it towards the predator maquette but it just has so much presence.

Beautiful piece D, and thanks for all your help in my acquisition of one!

The last 3 that went on ebay went for $1300, $1100, and $900 (no box). So if you decide to sell, you should get something similar.

And to any potential buyers out there, JUMP on this piece if he does. Not only is D a great guy, but this piece is AMAZING in person and Gigantic.

I second that..this maquette is a masterpiece. Very well done and the BEST alien statue done to date. This and the CM Alien are the grails.

Are you guys putting something under the knee to help support it? I recently learned about the leaning problem on statue forum. I checked mine and sure enough the knee is almost touching the base now. Gonna put a brown doorstop under the knee for the meantime to keep it from leaning anymore.

The one I purchased had been in a display case for over a year and was fine. I did make a little clear brace (2 clear glass rubber stoppers stuck to each other making a 1.5cm clear pillar thats hardly noticeable) for him just in case.

Just checked mine out and the knee is touching the base, so I have made a rubber pad to put between the knee and base and I will slowly prop it back up. Thanks everyone for bringing this one up.
And don't sell it!

Since it has been almost 4 years, have you had any luck getting your Dog Alien to not lean any more?

For those of us with this leaning issue in our maquettes my concern is that the resin was not mixed properly so that over time the entire statue will sag (not just leaning). I originally thought the metal support was bending under the weight but if that were the case the right foot would have lifted off the base. So to me it seems the resin casting itself is faulty and in a few more year the alien will eventually be kissing the base.

I recently filled out a return request to SideShow to bring this issue to their attention. Of course I am not looking to get a refund but I was hoping they could answer some questions. Here is what I sent:

-----

I am not wanting to return or request a refund for this product. This is my favorite statue from SideShow and I want to ensure it remains in good condition moving forward.

In this image you can see that the left knee which was once about an inch off the ground is now directly resting on the ground. The left arm has also shifted slightly. I originally thought the metal rod attaching the maquette to the base was bending under the weight of the figure but if that were the case the right foot would be lifting. This maquette has always been in my basement which is cool year round so I know it is not heat stress related. There also does not appear to be any paint cracks where the joints are which one would expect with this issue.

There have been MANY people on StatueForum and other collectibles forums with similar issues with this maquette so my hope is that SideShow knows what is happening with these statues and can recommend steps to ensure the sagging stops.

Some questions I have are:
1. Does Sideshow know what is causing these statues to 'sag'?
2. If the issue is related to soft or improperly mixed resin, is there enough armor or steel supports in the hips, tail, arms and torso that will prevent further sagging?
3. What recommendations do you have to help me preserve this statue and to minimize future sag if you feel there still may be some issues?
4. If further sag is not preventable, would SS consider having a few of these statues remade and resold to customers that have this issue at the same original cost? In other words I would be more than happy to repay $899 for a replacement and destroy my original.

Thank you for your time and for looking into this issue. I look forward to hearing back from you. Also it is my sincere hope that SideShow will consider making a new 1/3 Dog Alien maquette sometime soon.

I think if more people bring this issue up to SideShow they may do something about it, if nothing else hopefully they will make a new 1/3 Dog Alien maquette.

Hi mate, mine hasn't been on display for the last 18 months and has been in storage. I just moved in to my new house so I will start unpacking once I renovate it. When I packed it up it was still pressing firmly on the pad and I had it raised about 1cm, once I removed the pad it dropped back down to the base. Like you, long term I'm not sure where the statue will end up. I guess if it gets bad I'll take more drastic measures and make a cradle with pin to the base for the knee, or sculpt the base higher to raise the knee... I guess we'll see. I'm fine with it being where it is as long as it doesn't get worse.

That's my attitude. I actually don't mind the knee on the base so long as nothing else droops over the years like the torso and tail. I know many people who do not have this issue so I suspect it was just a small batch run.

I also have (or I should say had) the leaning problem with my Dog Alien maquette. His knee would slowly sag down and touch the base and his left hand would push forward and hang over the side of the base. I just put some blocks under his knee to raise him back up to original height, but his hand would be high off the base, due to it being pushed/warped out of place for so long.

Eventually his hand would sag back down to it's original spot and all is good now (It took months). I still have the blocks under his knee to prevent the sagging issue from reoccurring.

I think SS/ADI should've designed the base to support the knee in the first place. The Dog maquette is heavy! What did you think was going to happen SS? :slap

Here is the reply I received from SideShow support concerning my leaning Dog Alien

Dear Paul,

Thank you for contacting the Sideshow Collectibles returns department. We are very sorry to hear about the issue on your Dog Alien. Unfortunately, we do not have any troubleshooting to assist you with the problem you are encountering. We can only recommend you continue to keep your item in a cool environment and out of any direct sunlight or under any hot lighting.

Regarding your other question, please know that once an edition is complete for a statue, we cannot go back into production to remake pieces. This is especially true with an item that is more than a few years old. We also have no information on what possible pieces are coming in the future, aside from what has been previewed on our website or in our newsletter.

We are sorry we are unable to assist you with this issue. If you do have any further questions or concerns please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to assist you.

So it sounds like they are not even acknowledging there was a production issue with some of these statue. As I said, I don't care that the knee is now on the base but I would like to know if there is risk of it still getting worse. I don't want him kissing the floor in a few years. :/
