Re: Dr. Doom LSF!

Got to see the proto when I was at SS a few months ago. This thing is HUGE and absolutely gorgeous. This is the only LSF figure I'm buying. I got the Darth Maul piece and sent it back. IT was a complete hollowed out mess. Hope the production I better on this one.

Re: Dr. Doom LSF!

getting to see this it's just mind blowing how massive he is. He dwarfs pretty much every other LSF there, and not just cos of his base, but the thing is a behemoth.

that being said, pictures do the piece more justice than in person. the pose is still terrible, but in person his head is gigantic, his hands tiny, and his forearm guantlets are cartoonishly bulbous. the worst part is the paint finish, it makes the statue look cheap and like it's sculpted out of plastic almost. kinda like a big marvel legends figure. such a shame cos the sheer scale of the piece could overcome everything but the terrible paint.

And they are gonna charge an arm and a leg for this P.O.S. too...:thud:

Wow. A SDCC in person review that I'm sure will get slammed, but what an honest review from a gentleman who I know takes great pride in his love of Marvel characters especially Doom.

Having said that, I'm sure many people will love and adore this statue regardless of it's faults. And there's no fault in that. I think it looks great but am glad to hear your review as a professional.

Much like the HT Hulk figure which is a beautiful stand alone piece but towers over the other Avengers to make it so non movie accurate it's borderline comical.

AMIRIGHTSPLIFF?

Well clearly his opinion is in the minority. If he is not just another Doom Pf owner you have to respect his opinion regardless.

Re: Dr. Doom LSF!

looks really beautiful. not a big enough doom fan to justify this purchase for the price, but can definitely appreciate it. ssc seems to be doing well with the lsf line.

Re: Dr. Doom LSF!

I think the Iron Man LSF will steal some sales away from Doom.

Sideshow has themselves to blame with all these delays.

I agree...I saw both of them side by side and they look amazing. Just depends on who u like better or own both if money grows on trees.

Thanks for your observations.
Going back and looking at the pics after reading this, I think I can see what you mean about the size of the hands. I was keying on the pose rather than the proportions, but were it right in front of me, I might have a similar reaction to yours as that aspect would likely be much more noticeable.
Sorry to hear about the paint job. From the photos, that aspect looks near perfect.

Re: Dr. Doom LSF!

All the complaints above are things that can be addressed on the final piece.

The dull grey for Doom's armor is accurate to the comics. I can't imagine that if it was that bad this is the first time we hear about it. Armor proportions? Tell that to the giant feet on the Doom PF.
