Goodfellas on Blu-Ray. Hadn't seen it since 2001. Held up beautifully!

It was funny, the line where Henry Hill describes how when you get whacked, your murderers are your friends bearing smiles; there's no raised voices, it's not like in the movies. Since Goodfellas came out, that is how it is in the movies.

I also recently saw the final season of Sopranos on Blu-Ray.

[Sopranos Spoiler alert:] I think Sopranos wanted to end with an ellipses type ending. Such as Tony met his family in the cafe where danger is never as far away as the guy coming out of the men's room... I think it was David Chase's way of letting the audience decide for themselves what happens next. If you wanted Tony to get whacked, he got whacked. If you want him to go to prison, he goes to prison. If you want him to continue on having adventures, then that's what he does.

Knowing what a vocal fan of Scorsese he is I think he got his inspiration for the ending from when Henry Hill narrates in Goodfellas: "For a second I thought I was dead. But, when I heard all the noise, I knew they were cops. Only cops talk that way. If they'd been wiseguys, I wouldn't have heard a thing. I would've been dead." Now had David Chase used a situation as dramatic as the one in Goodfellas to set up the never-heard-a-thing idea, I'd say David Chase was definitively killing off Tony.

But as it stands, whether he was going for an open ending or killing him off, I think Chase fumbled the storytelling to point of: Tony met his family in the cafe where he was whacked by a man in a Members Only jacket... or was he!? He was. Or was he?!

I just watched Stranger Than Fiction last night and LOVED IT! Seriously great movie - very inspiring too.

"Aren't you glad you're not a golem?"

"No, I'm not the King of the Trolls!"

Bwahahahaha - there were tears :rotfl

The new criterion collection versions of Yojimbo and Sanjuro. awesome movies.

One of the movies that really surprised me last year. Highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.
