DX 09 Keaton- Broken PERS Please Help

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to these forums and a newbie to Hot Toys and I wondered if any of new guys could lend some advice.

This morning I finally received my Keaton from goodshipped and I was thrilled with him, until using the PERS.

I noticed after taking off the back plate some glue residue around the screws by the joy stick. When trying to move the stick it felt very stiff but with a bit of a wiggle it moved. However, when I went to check out the effect Keaton's left eye is now stuck looking inward and only his right eye moves.

As you can no doubt understand I am absolutely gutted.

If you could give any advice on either how to fix the PERS (I need a smaller screwdriver if I'm to open his head) that would be wonderful and very much appreciated. Or if you think I should send the figure back, which I don't want the hassle of doing as so far the rest of the figure seems fine.

i suggest you get a replacement or a refund from the vendor. just take pics and send them so they can see what the issue is. defective items are a common occurrence with hot toys so im sure they will understand. good luck and welcome to the borad

You should return it, it will probably not be an easy fix.

Definately send it back. Removing those screws will only give you access to the joystick. You will have to remove the whole pers chassis to get to the, what sounds like, broken eye carriage.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll take some pictures and contact the vendor . Other than having a lazy eye it's a beautiful piece! I think I'll steer away from touching the PERS when Nicholson arrives!

Just as the others have said, contact the seller. I've ordered from Goodshipped and as he takes ages to reply, he still seems a nice guy and I'm sure he will offer a replacement.

Sorry to hear that. It really sucks when a new item breaks so quickly. It's like a punch to the throat. Hopefully the vendor can send you a replacement head.

maybe unrelated to the PERS problem, but forgive me for posting this here since the other Batman threads are thousands of pages long...

Has anyone actually sliced the rubber suit off and seen what's underneath? You'd have to be crazy to, considering how expensive it is, but maybe someone went nuts on a defective one. I don't think I've seen any pics of what's under that suit, but I'd be really curious to see how it's all put together!

Thanks for all of the advice guys. I've just had an email from goodshipped, he wants me to send the head back and he'll send it to Hot Toys and sort me out with a replacement. So I'll have a bit longer to wait before I can display my keaton!

Well, on that Toysdaily.com page, it looks like the guy managed to fix it by re-glueing the wayward eye. That would now be a choice between waiting for the replacement, or be bold and adventurous...

i like PERS but i wish HT would develop it better, my DX01 broke and i'm almost scared to position Jack Sparrow in case it happens again.

Though Jack comes with two heads so that is great if one breaks.

Jack Sparrow is one figure I desperately wish I had. I had to break my PO because of funds. I would say he is the best figure they ever did if it wasn't for the DX09. I'm a bigger Batman fan than I am a Jack Sparrow fan. I loved the first movie,liked the second and I thought the 3rd and 4th movie were overdone. The franchise became a parody of itself including the way Depp approaches the character. But him and the DX09 are the best figures HT has done to date in my opinion. Anyway I'm off track. Is it me or does the PERS system look different than the DX01? Mine broke on that figure and I unscrewed the hatch. It was fairly thin plastic but the mechanism looks slightly different on this one.

Jack Sparrow's on the GC Eligibility list, so if you ever stumble across a decent card code, you could shave off some of the price.
