Has your DX02 shown signs of residue buildup in the abdominal area?

I think the "fixes" only prove they knew they had a problem. Doesn't lend itself to a presumption of them knowing before hand or that it was rushed.

Wouldn't be the first time they had a problem during production that needed to be rectified. Most likely one of the most costly problems since they ended up replacing entire figures though.

Given that though, you think a company would halt production until the problem had been resolved and/or at least recalled the first two runs. To this day I'm betting the members here did a more thorough investigation into what was happening and why than HT did. Slipping a plastic strip underneath the top was halfassed and then again, adding hard plastic abs. How does that help a suit that's decomposing? Then they turn around and issue statements blatantly lying about the problem being resolved with the DCD batch, which means they either never realized what the issue was or were intentionally ignoring it. I think that was just posturing to DC Direct though, to save face for the license. :lol

I agree, they handled the whole thing with the tact of a bull in a china shop!

I think what they did was try several fixes while not being able to shut down production (schedules and production slots being what they are) and when the first fixes didn't work, they just recast the abs in hard plastic thinking that would solve it once and for all. I would imagine this fig was a complete loss to them given all the QC issues from all batches.

Now...let me go check my DX Bats to make sure he isn't leaking o_O

Man, I had been thinking about selling my Dark Knight Bats to trade up for the DX02 version....but after going through this thread, I think I'll settle for the one I have and leave it at that. Too bad about this issue:dunno; I'd be pretty unhappy if I encountered this problem.

I bought a DCD batch DX02 this time last year. I kept it on display for a good couple of months and it never showed any sign of leakage. After that I had to put it back in it's box due to a critical lack of space.

After reading a few comments here, I decided to unbox it yesterday just for inspection. Still no sign of leakage in the abdominal area (I checked under the shirt and everything was fine, no oil at all) but I found a small amount of "moist" (can't say but it could've been some kind of oil) on the biceps area and under the shoulder pads. Not much and I can't see any sign of further damage after wiping it so I still consider myself really lucky with this figure.

Though it finally leaked.

you know i took my bicep armor off and i have had them laying seperately for a loong time now. theyre fine. its only when they are touching the rubber of the rest of his costume does the reaction seem to take place. same with my comedian gear. im going to try sebs trick of brushing on loctite superglue. he said it stopped with his comedian so far. i have nothing to lose on the little ol bicep plates

Had a look at mine again yesterday. The leaking has progressed upwards over all the plates of the abdomen rather than just the four above the belt. I'd let it build up quite a bit where in parts it wasn't just a shine but actual liquid. I took the belt off and found a strip of thick oil on it too. The whole thing leaks to some degree though. The 'mesh' beneath the armour plates on the entire figure has always glinted in the light. Damn shame. I think some of the surface detail is starting to be damaged now.

I'm considering adding it to my figures for sale list. I think I might be happy with just the OC suit until the inevitable TDKR figure. Meditate on this I will.

I took a peek at mine, and the only oil I can find is under the abs (along with a tiny tiny bit of melting) and a little right at the belt. I think it's a chemical reaction to the bit of glue that's on the belt from that plastic sticker thing that got left behind. Cleaned it with a cottonball, seems to be relatively dry now.

Including the kevlar plates?

And almost 2 years after buying my DX02 ... OIL LEAK PROBLEM!! yeeeeaaaa!! :yess:

Does anyone have HOT TOYS customer service email? The only fight which is lost is the one that was never fought.

Ok, I'm not backtracking through 300 pages and I have since sold my DX TDK Batman figures.

What was it determined the "leaking" was coming from? Was it overzealous Hot Toys' employees putting too much "lubricant" on them? Haha.

Or was it just some weird meltdown of the rubber?
